My Review of the Xiaomi Mi Motion Activation Night Light


So I bought 10 pcs of Xiaomi Mi motion activation night light to test how good the light is.
These are my in depth review.

The light is small, compact and comes in a small box. In the box is the light itself, 3 finger batteries and the light holder. The battery is not rechargeable so it has to be replaced. One set of batteries last like 80-100 days depending on usage. The light comes covered in a nylon which has to be removed.

In the battery compartment, the light has a switch for adjusting the brightness. Pls note that this light isn't bright enough for you to read. It's basically meant for one to see around a dark room where there's no light.

Now, The Amazing Aspect of this Light..

This light is controlled by motion. It has a sensor that can sense human movement from a distance of 5-7 meters and immediately it does, it would come on automatically until the motion ceases. So what that means is that if you install the light in your living room as I did, the moment you step into your living room, the light comes on automatically, it stays on as long as you are in that room and moving.
Another beauty of this light is that it knows when it's daybreak or there's another source of light in the room. As long as there's another source of light around, it won't work because it knows it's not needed. It also doesn't work during the day even if you dance around it..

I tried the effectiveness of the sensor and I must say it's 100 percent accurate. The moment I stretched a finger into the living room from the bedroom where I was hiding, the light came on.
I couldn't hang it on the ceiling, I had to hang it at the door entrance of my living room, despite that, it was able to pick movement in every single part of my living room...


I'm going to make a video when I'm chanced and upload on YouTube.....

The light scores 100 percent and I think I like it because it helps me to find my way around when there's power outage at night. Of course, that's what it's meant for.

It's not rechargeable. It uses power bank.

Avoid those rechargeable ones cos once their batteries go bad, they become virtually useless since you will only be able to use them with Nepa which defeats the original aim of the fan.


The 20k mah xiaomi power bank can carry this fan for more than 10 days.

It will not because your phone will only draw a maximum of 18w from it. Chargers don't impose currents on phones. Since your phone is not configured to work with 27w, the charger cannot release it. Chargers and phones do communicate at all times. At times, your phone may even draw 8w or 11.6w from that 27w charger. It varies and not static. Hope you understand?
Also, QC4.0 is backward compatible with QC3.0 and QC2.0. It means any of the QC charger can equally do the job at almost the same time.
The only issue is since your charger can release up to 27w , but your phone can only accept a maximum of 18w out of that, you may have wasted your money, except you are maintaining the charger as investment, that may have perfect use in the future..

The case of the RN5AI was different cos the boxed charger was just a regular charger and thus could not do QC and required one getting a QC charger in order to activate quick charging. This scenerio cannot be said to be true with the RN7 as it comes complete with a QC Charger. Cheers
