A Song for her

Sitting at a corner on a faithful Friday
Enjoying the cool breeze of my ancient city abule odu
Enjoying the sweet sounds of konstant morenikeji
And the lovely children playing the game suwe
The things that makes my abule odu unique is so much
The statue of ogboju ode a great hunter who killed a lion with katapot
The trinity river called odo iya alaro
The 100 year old palm tree that stands even till this moment
There a girl walk past and caught my attention
I thought the saying love at first sight were mere words
Not knowing the words were real
We got in touch and the rest is history
Just like the words ise lo somo nu bi oko
I had to leave my abule odu
Just to make sure i become successful and marry my awelewa
She was afraid the city girls might make me forget her
And i said this to her before leaving
Remember the first time i saw you
The days i throw stone at your window just to call you
The cool night breeze under the iroko tree
The unending drama at the village square
Our romantic trip to the abalaye market
Now its time re affirm my love to you
In summertime, our love will be as
cheerful , like roses in a beautiful garden
In wintertime, our love will be warm it goes from eye to toes.
If skies are blue, our love will be like children playing in the rain.
If thunder rolls our love is calm , like a refuge from the falling rain.
When spring flowers bloom, our love is bold, like pink petals on the orchid
When autumn leaves fall, our love is copper, shining bright like a harvest pumpkin.
From Valentine day till our wedding our love will continue to delight.
From season to season I will love you always
Forget me not even when i leave our beloved abule odu
From time to time i will always write my beautiful poems to you
Till the day i will be back to take you as my wife
But for now i must leave
Wish me well
Your love ifedolapo
