* If there are two things that define Pep Guardiola, they are his confessed love for Barcelona and his professionalism, but they are two characteristics that sometimes collide, the latest example being the signing of Eric Garcia for Manchester City.
Another pearl from La Masia has escaped the Catalans, like Jordi Mboula who was recently contracted to Monaco.
Since Guardiola returned to the bench, his and Barcelona's paths have crossed several times.
In a good part of them, it has been the coach who has demonstrated to have a talent in seduction, prising away major players from his former club.
The first case came when Guardiola was still in his sabbatical period and, as has come to be known, Pep tried to convince Neymar's father to let his son sign for Bayern Munich, a team that he was going to take over.
On that occasion, the Catalan did not get his way, but then came the case of Thiago Alcantara, who Pep signed for Bayern Munich in his first summer as coach of the Bavarians.
He did it by taking advantage of one of those treacherous clauses that the Barcelona sometimes puts in its contracts.
It allowed the talented midfielder to sign for much less than his market value - 25 million - if the sale took place before a certain date.
Needless to say, the Blaugrana misses a player like Thiago today and certain sections of the club have not forgiven Pep for 'fishing' in his old house.
Already in his stage as coach of Manchester City, Guardiola's team has had the same interests as Barcelona on more than one occasion.
The most outstanding were the unsuccessful attempts to dress Messi in the sky blue.
Both clubs wanted to sign Nolito, City eventually winning that race, and Pep also went after Marc-Andre ter Stegen, eventually settling for Claudio Bravo.
The last chapter of these clashes comes with the departure of Eric Garcia to the City academy.
They will pay 1.5 million euros for the youngster in a transfer operation that makes it clear that Barcelona quickly need to look for a solution.

* Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is relishing the prospect of playing alongside new signing Mohamed Salah next season.

* Arsenal are offering Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil huge Champions League pay hikes to sign new contracts.
