South Energyx Nigeria Limited (SENL), the developers of Eko Atlantic City, the brand new city being built from reclaimed land adjacent to Victoria Island in Lagos, has invited Covenant University to be part of the initiative that the developers referred to as the future financial capital of Africa. The Development Director, South Energyx, Mr. Pierre Edde, who led a business delegation of his company to Covenant University on Friday, June 23, 2017, said at a meeting with the Management of the University that through the Eko Atlantic City project, the developers are trying to create a platform for international investors. Mr. Edde said that the Business District of Eko Atlantic City is a strategic and prestigious location for offices, with a state-of-the-art 24/7 infrastructure network, including 21st century communications, smooth transport system and uninterrupted electricity, making it a compelling place to work. His organisation, he added, wants Covenant University to have a presence in Eko Atlantic City in whatever guise the University deems fit. Lending his voice to Mr. Edde’s proposition, the Sales and Marketing representative, South Energyx, Mr. Yuki Omenai, who said that Covenant University was the first tertiary institution in the country to be approached by his organization, expressed optimism that South Energyx and Covenant University will have a mutually beneficial relationship. In his comments, the Director, Physical Planning and Development, Covenant University, Arc. Gbenga Alalade, appreciated the visit of the South Energyx delegation and described what is happening at Eko Atlantic City as novel in terms of job creation. On the likelihood of a partnership with the Eko Atlantic City developers, he suggested that students of Covenant University should get industry experience from what is happening there. The Special Assistant to the Chancellor of Covenant University on Internally Generated Revenue, Mr. Leye Wuraola, said that the IGR Unit was trying to develop some products and hoped that South Energyx will be a partner as products of the IGR Unit are among the best. The Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor AAA. Atayero, in his remarks, thanked the South Energyx representatives for a wonderful presentation on the Eko Atlantic City initiative. While saying that the most viable option for partnership would be for the University to set up a business school at Eko Atlantic City, the Vice-Chancellor said that representatives of the University would however have to pay a visit to the city to have first-hand knowledge of what obtains in the environment. The vision of becoming one of the top 10 universities in the world in the next five years, he emphasized, is the main focus of the University at the moment but the time to get involved in such a worthy venture as the Eko Atlantic City is now. He expressed enthusiasm that South Energyx would be able to harmonise its innovative approaches with the University’s curriculum in the eventuality of a relationship being formalized. Also at the meeting were Financial Controller, Mr. Paul Uwaje, representing the Registrar; Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences, Professor Francis Iyoha; Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Dr. David Omole; President, Dream Youth International, Pastor Seyi Macaulay and other members of the DYI, which facilitated the visit of South Energyx Nigeria Limited. http://m.covenantuniversity.edu.ng/News/Developers-Woo-Covenant-to-Eko-Atlantic-City#.WVOXaW_TVEI Lalasticlala TheVictorious Mynd44 Seun

I hope the Management talks to Bishop about this soonest so the Church can bankroll this swiftly and early enough. CU needs an independent business school either in EAC, Lekki or Ikoyi to rival Lagos Business School. I hope no one ever comes up with a plan where Ota would ever be considered for the business school. |

I was around that Eko atlantic city yesterday and it's actually a place to be. Since CU is already getting plans ready for a business school, I believe that will be a good location to cite it, even if it's just a satellite facility. 1 Like |

And the move of the management of Eko atlantic to involve CU attest to the standard and reputation of the school. [Mind you, it's not even Nigerians that that project was awarded to]. The vision of being rated among the most reputable varsities in the world is no joke! 1 Like |

Nutase: Yes money is a major factor but it's not just about money. Reputation and standard is also considered here! |

Statsocial: Yes of course. LBS are actually good but they're presently best at what they do because they have no rival in Nigeria. I think CU business school has already been approved by the management and it's something to watch out for in the nearest future. 1 Like |

TheVictorious:but UI and ABU have reputation too. |

Nutase: Yes of course they do but we mentioned three factors in all; Reputation, standard and the financial capacity. Besides, they may also proceed to UI, but I don't see ABU in the picture. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheVictorious:Wow never knew. I can recall Dr. Muyiwa talking about it in 2015. I think it would be a very good idea for CU to start an independent business school because most world class universities do. |
Re: Covenant University To Own A Business School At Eko Atlantic City by Nobody: 11:02am On Jun 29, 2017 |
TheVictorious:Certainly not ABU, Unilag would even have a place there before ABU can be considered. In SW it can only be Unilag, CU, LBS or University of Ibadan. Even OAU can't afford such. |

TheVictorious:But placing a business school in EACity would cost a fortune and i think Cu's proprietors financial capacity would give it an advantage over lbs. Lalasticlala abeg front page. |

Mirand606:Yes and the independent power supply would be key to wooing CU to this project particularly because Living faith would not be able to extend her power supply to anywhere else from Ota... |
Re: Covenant University To Own A Business School At Eko Atlantic City by TheVictorious(m): 3:23pm On Jun 29, 2017 |
Statsocial:Yea sure. I think it has been approved for canaan city. This should not however stop CU from proceeding to honor the opportunity to cite the business school in Lagos, particularly in a place like Eko Atlantic city; that is a choice location. Even if it's not the main structure, it could be a satellite center (I bet the satellite will even become the main site in no time if it's in EAC). Besides, the the proposal of the EAC contractors themselves to CU shows confidence in what they can offer towards the intended development of that city into a choicest location in Africa. |

Statsocial:Yea sure. I agree with Unilag because of their reputation, Unilag because of their financial might as compared to other government owned institutions (and even location) btu of course not OAU or ABU. Why didn't you include Afe Babalola University? |
Re: Covenant University To Own A Business School At Eko Atlantic City by TheVictorious(m): 3:30pm On Jun 29, 2017 |
Mirand606: Covenant University should even be able to handle that beyond the support of her proprietary base. 1 Like |

TheVictorious:Wow so many things are planned for Canaan city. Teaching hospital, Law school and now business school - I guess that would be called CU campus two. I also guess the law school is also coming up strong because the same agency that did the finishings for CUCRID also reported online that they got the contract for CU's law school. |

TheVictorious:Oh yea Afe Babalola could also afford to. Btw I was at CUCRID last wk and I was able to see two of the molecular laboratories on the left side of the ground floor-really dope. Also interesting to see that the molecular lab in CST wasn't moved. Do you know where the labs for biochemist lecturers are situated in the CUCRID building? I would like to know the number of lab that was totally allocated to biological sciences out of the 24 labs. |
