These 2 Nigerian states are indirectly operating a well structured/modelled and equipped state police....

They call it different names just to divert the attention of the FG.

The states are::

LAGOS STATE ( Neighborhood security)

ANAMBRA STATE( state vigilantes group).

This state police are scattered across all LGA and every nook and crany of the states..

I love Lagos. Everything is so well structured and ordered. The only problem with Lagos is its location: Nigeria.

True they probably operate on a technicality of some sort. The one I'm wondering about it how jigawa will set up paramilitary force.

Article 214 (1) of the 1999 Constitution as follows: “There shall be a police force for Nigeria, which shall be known as the Nigeria Police Force, and … no other police force shall be established for the Federation or any part thereof.”

Yes, they can't charge a suspect to court. sad But they can hand him over to the police, give eye-witness accounts against such suspects, give detailed statements about a case, a suspect or an event, and follow up with the investigating police officer (IPO) to ensure the matter is charged to court. Their presence in Lagos has acted as a deterrent, against petty criminals in different neighbourhoods. This is a worthwhile initiative, and should be further strengthened and improved upon.

Honestly everything you brought up just showanted decentralization of Police would be good in general. Too bad constitution is clear on issue.

This one na small one and not the original vigilante groups in all 178 communites in Anambra operate. Peter Obi created them and Obiano equipped them well.
Anambra remains one of the safest state in the federation.

Lagos actually got the idea from Anambra but they need to learn more so as to flush those badoo guys out as we did. Obiano can give Ambode a crash course on that

These are like Boy Scout. Come to most northern states and see state police in action. They call it different names. In Kano for example, they are called Hisbah. These guys can arrest and detain you. They can also prosecute you in a sharia court.
