A couple days ago, a video was posted on nairaland about moving sand in iraq. But what actually caused it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUYokzfVDuY The video footage shows a river of sand flowing across the desert. This ‘sand river’ was due to an exceptional weather phenomenon. Rare changes in the weather led to a rain and hail storm in Iraq. This resulted in a ‘river bed’ which contains a frozen water to flow across the desert. The incredible spectacle, which looks like moving sand, is actually comprised of several blocks of ice moving at rapid pace through the desert. https://www.tutor2u.net/geography/blog/the-iraq-sand-river-explained |
