Boycott of 2015 elections
Another controversy was that which arose from Radio Biafra campaign that the 2015 election should be boycotted by Biafrans. His message was that if Biafrans did this, the world would ask questions, and then Biafrans would be in a pole position to demand Biafra independence from Nigeria.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party of Goodluck Jonathan – the then president (a Biafran) – accused Kanu and IPOB of collecting money from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), and working to deny their candidate votes from his greatest stronghold.
Indeed, the elections were boycotted by Biafrans in such states that Radio Biafra signals were getting to, such as Abia, Enugu, Imo, Anambra, and Rivers boycotted it. But the Nigerian media, owned, controlled and manipulated by the Fulani/Yoruba media maintained a conspiratorial silence on the happenings during and after the elections in this regard. Long before the election proper, editors of newspapers and magazines had held a meeting where they shared out bribes from governments and politicians, and agreed to black out the Biafra call for boycott of the elections. Even the electronic media were in on the plot.
But it was no surprise to Nnamdi Kanu and the entire IPOB family. Kanu prophetically declared on air that IPOB would not bribe any newspaper reporter or editor to carry Biafra news, but that one day they would be “forced to write about us”. That is happening today. Even though many are writing about Biafra to counter the agitations, Kanu and IPOB are appreciative of the fact that, all in all, Biafra is resounding across the land.

Kanu Ordered Igbos Not To Vote: They Did, He (Biafra) Lost
Realizing that if Igbos vote at the polls it means there is not true cause for self-determination, Nwannekaenyi Okwu-Kanu, aka Nnamdi Kanu at the last minute after he realized Jonathan was bound to lose, told his disciples to boycott the elections. The Biafra Zionists federation also realizing the imminent defeat, called on Igbos to boycott the elections as reported in the Vanguard this February . They did not listen, they voted.
This marked the second defeat for Biafra. The voter turnout in the East approximated the ~50% registered voters’ turnout nationwide. The call by the agitators for Biafra had been defeated at the polls. By going to the polls and trying to get Jonathan re-elected to rule Nigeria till 2019, Igbos had demonstrated that their majority did not want Biafra, they believed in Nigeria. Kanu did not even ask Buhari his opinion on self determination. He did not present a legitimate case to the UN. In a panic at the defeat, he went out soliciting guns and bullets to kill Nigerians. Actions of a miscreant by all means.

I thought they said he was being sponsored by jonathan and PDP. if so, why did he campaign for the boycott of 2015 general election which led to voter apathy and low voter turnout in the east and eventually led to buhari's victory?.....

The truth, they say cant be hidden forever and i think Buhari owes Nnamdi Kanu an apology and a big thank you for helping him win the election.

Meanwhile there is another video of him in 2013, for those who are asking why ipob agitation gained traction after buhari won. The truth is, ipob was already gathering momentum before buhari came to power. After buhari came to power, in a bid to show power/force motivated by his hate for the igbos and vendetta for rejecting him, BUHARI shot himself on the foot by arresting Nnamdi kanu which became the game changer.

Actually, they listened to him, even though he was not this popular.

This is a fact. In 2011, SE gave GEJ, a total vote of 4.9million. Now by every sensible statistics, total votes from the SE should increase, but in 2015, the total votes from SE in the presidential polls was 2.9 million. This reduction is simply Kanu's effect.

I don't understand the mods nowadays. i dont know if they are intentionally biased or they have been paid by the government or maybe they are bigots, because their report these days are usually not balanced and with distracting headlines...I just pray God will touch their hearts and give them the wisdom to see that Nnamdi Kanu's struggle is a struggle for all of us. A struggle of liberation for the youths and good people of southern Nigeria who would eventually be the biggest beneficiary.

yes you are right, knowing too well that the difference between buhari's vote and Jonathan's vote was just that 2million despite majority of the southwest and middle belt states voting for buhari.

had the Middlebelt voted Jonathan like they did in 2011, with no voter apathy in the east. jonathan would have won hands down which also invalidate the influence of the southwest in election like they want us to believe,,,

of which the southwest vote was divided through Lagos(because of presence of non indigenes) and Ekiti. Meaning outside lagos, the southwest pulls no real voter strength.

Don't mind them. I can remember their passion during occupy Nigeria and 2face's fail protest which they were hoping was going to be a springboard for a revolution that will bring the needed change they all have been yearning for... Now the opportunity has come but their hate and envy for the igbo will not allow them see that the revolution has started...Am sure if it started in Lagos, they would have supported it which will eventually fail cos they have gat no balls. They are cowards. After 2 or 3 days they will give up to remember their stomach especially when they have been bribed.

It also support the argument that there can never be a successful revolution in Nigeria because tribalism and na my person dey power mentality will not only divide us, but also weaken it cos we are not united. That is why i want Nigeria to divide because then power will truly belong to the mass and the politicians will have less to divide us and will also sit up

Only thing exposed by this thread is that N.Kanu had been preaching his sermons long before 2015, but absolutely no one spared him a single regard; not until GEJ lost a certain election, and then Kanu instantly became a G-O-D.

Was he not there before Buhari in his wicked self thought it wise to arrest him and refuse to release him, after two competent courts of the law pronounced that he should be released unconditionally.

Just accept Buhari goofed on this one, like always.

The only reason he was arrested was because post-2015 elections, his followership grew at an astounding rate (thanks to the influx of millions of angry Jonathanians who refused to accept election results). Due to his exploded followership, his voice became louder, his messages became popular, he became known by all, and he became a threat to the government of the day. That was the reason the government reacted. Had it been that he gained the kind of influence he gained post-2015 election before 2015, even the peaceful GEJ wouldn't have folded his arms.

But more than 1 million was in Aba as of May 30th 2015.
Tell me again if he gained such Followership just few weeks after elections.

Those of us who have been IPOB members since Nov 2014, knew it was only a matter of time. I registered this moniker on 8th of April 2015.
I and others did not wake up one day to do IPOB cos GEJ lost election.
Come sef, wasn't it Nnamdi Kanu that said GEJ would loose election by 2 million vote deficit. It is on record he said it.
Under GEJ, DSS arrested this same man and released him, the same DSS visited Nnamdi Kanu's father before elections. All these are on record.

Just say it the way it is, the man spoke the truth which endeared him to people, despite him saying some nasty things against christainity, his Christain followers haven't abandoned him for one day, the numbers keep swelling.

Buhari goofed on Nnamdi Kanu, same way he goofed on Niger Delta issue.
