A higher institution, previously called, The Northwest University was established by the Kano state government in 2012.
The university has both a temporary and main campus, located at various locations within the Kano metropolis.
Alhaji Maitama Sule, whose name the university now bears, was a native of Kano state who passed away on Monday, July 3, at the age of 87. This was reportedly as a result of pneumonia in Cairo, Egypt. The Institution, ‘The Northwest University’ has been renamed to ‘The Maitama Sule University’ by the Kano state government....
