Not less than Ten persons including a toddler were confirmed dead in an accident involving a white Mazda bus and a Mack truck at Ibara village , along Abeokuta /Sagamu Expressway in Ogun on Thursday.







Apart from those that lost their lives, Five others were critically injured.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed the incident.

Akinbiyi told newsmen in Abeokuta that the crash which occurred around 10:30 am was caused by reckless driving on the part of the Mark truck loaded with granite.

He stated that four male, five female and a toddler died in the accident while three male and two female were seriously injured.

“The Mazda with registration number TRE 556 XA was coming from Sango going towards Ijebu Ode and Ijebu Igbo before the accident.

"We Learnt that the bus parked by the traffic corridor to allow one of the passengers, a female, answer the call of nature, when the trailer from no where rammed into the bus from behind.

"The trailer with registration number LND 564 XP dragged the bus along until it fell on it.

"Three of the dead victims were prospective students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, who were going to the school to formalise their admission requirements.

" The baby who died among other victims, was two months old and she died with her mother, " he said.

The TRACE spokesman explained that the corpses of the dead were deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) mortuary, while the injured were taken to same hospital for treatment.

He, however, said that the driver of the trailer that caused the fatal

What a tragedy! It amazes me how trailer drivers handle trailers as if they're in formula 4 competition.

The funniest thing is that the driver of the trailer will come out unhurt leaving casualties incapacitated

Really sad, it happened today which commence that start of a 9 days sacrifice(human beings as sacrifice lambs),kindly inform your folks here to stay in doors coz it starts from 9pm. This happened close to where I work
