The only way we can tell if the deal is a good one is;
1. Ask him to state the wattage of the panels and and it's conditions
2. how long has the battery been used.
3. Your location (price differ by location. In delta state it would be a good deal).

I would like to hear other opinions anyway

it is a little over priced at 450k+ bro. and it is some months used. 300k is a fair price.

Took 4 units each of the 330w and 540w series of these panels.

They do look good. Sizes look real for their capacity. I can't believe the 540w is well taller than me... grin. Na money to take mount them i dey find now... cheesy.

Will update the house about how they output when I hang them.

I promised to return with updates. Doing so now.

After many wahala with Oga landlord (baba insisted that i sign an undertaking that I will be responsible for any damages resulting from the installation and removal of the panels), I eventually mounted the 4 units of the 540w panels on the East side of my roof 2 weekends ago.

Due to the inherent limitation of my current 12v connection, I was advised not to connect all 4 panels. So, the installer connected only 2 in series to my battery system, and left the remaining 2 (also connected in series). I had told him that I will be upgrading to 24v very soon, so he promised to return and parallel the 2s connection when I upgrade to 24v.

Brethren, even with just 2 panels in use, my batteries (2 units of 160ah FAT Full river lead acid batteries) floats before 1pm with normal sunlight and with my 80w fridge, 70w 55" Hisense smart tv, 3 Qasa DC ceiling fans, about 8 units of 5w bulbs and a laptop being charged intermittently.

The thing just be like jazz... grin...I have been kicking myself since and wondering why I didn't make this move much earlier. When I upgrade to a 24v system and connect the remaining 2 panels, I am definitely going to have more energy than I can handle...lol...na to find money buy lithium batteries dey my mind.

Attached are pics of the installation and some readings I took from my CC. I took the reading when my CC was fluctuating and trying to find a "sweet spot" though.

Just as Oga Monlo was testifying the other day, I also bless the day I ventured into 'RE. Though my first foray in 2018 was a catastrophe as I lost money and 2 of my binatone fans, I thank God for giving me the courage and wisdom to return in 2020. The quality of my life and those of my loved ones has really improved. Our productivity has trippled as well! I can't imagine how my life would have turned out if I didn't have access to constant electricity. I also thank you guys for providing a strong support system in this endeavour.

It's advisable u look elsewhere. Its used battery n nobi u use am. U can't tell if d user was mindful of the rules tied to lead acid battery. D battery might av suffered in d hand of d previous user.. that was y I recommended u going for Lifepo4 batteries. I can't see any charge controller in the picture so my best guess is the inverter has inbuilt CC which might b pwm which is not ok for the type of weather we av these days. That 450k hes asking for with a little change will build u something new n decent. Plus u can set it all up ursef. It's a 12v system afterall.

Lead acid can deteriorate within a month and since you don't know whether the original user maintained the charge/discharge precautions with lead acid I will not advice you go for it. The story will be different if it was a used Lifepo4

Lithium chemistries can deteriorate within a week if the current/last user did not maintain safe charge/discharge parameters. grin grin grin

Infact, if my understanding of the matter is correct, some Lithium chemistries suffer irreparable damage/degradation if discharged below a certain voltage just once whereas a lead acid battery very deep discharged can still have significant capacity restored if attended to on time.

I hope the 'Lithium is superior' pundits can focus on my core message which is below;

The advice to OP should be to find a reliable method of performing a health, capacity and unit balance test on whatever used battery pack he is being offered because a health assessment is par for the course when buying any used items.

Greetings everyone.

Am overwhelmed with the huge wealth of consultancy I got and still getting from this league of extra ordinary great fellows.. Even for free, I must say...

Still joyful for the experience am getting with everything about RE and being able to DIY(myself). Again, this I am doing only because of my passionate interest in every DIY, otherwise, best is to get the real tested and trusted experts.

Spent the major part of my weekend programming, learning and manipulating my new CC..

Can't help but say a sincere and big thank you to the "Prof" @GeorgeD1, @ojesymsym, @Ojeysky, @Niyiomolyunade, and everyone who's read all the back and forths here.

In attempt to try something new, even though the new CC has the feature of passing Grid through it to the inverter to make it smart(er), I wanted to further loop the CC to the battery through the inverter terminal, one key example @Niyiomolyunade gave was, "assume the currents from CC and Inverter to the battery being a pressure water pipe... If the meeting points of the "water" from the CC (say" A"wink and Inverter (say "B"wink being point "X", then the carryer of A+B=C must be bigger, I.e, C must be big to accommodate A and B comfortably to maintain same volume, else there will be great loss of water pressure and that is if both A and B are to run at same time at any given point which may lead to burst of line "c" - heatup and then fire in this case"

With the above, I now have DC supply from CC and Inverter running seperately to meet at the battery terminal...

Thank you so much guys... I hope someone is learning too...

Right now am able to manually or automatically shutdown or run my inverter from the CC... This CC is able to manipulate the inverter at will...

Grid to Solar is set at 14.5x2 which mean I may hardly need grid... Lol while Solar to Grid is set at 11.5x2 (simply becos my battery can run for 5days without charge, and my environs is hardly without power in 24hrs)...

With this, I can say bye to Grid o... Lol

Thanks guys... More Juice to your batteries!

NiyiOmoIyunade:
What you call 'double effort' of cabling is actually a critical code and safety and operability requirement.

There is something called voltage drop which happens when you pass relatively large currents through a cable and this is the force you are working against - uncompensated voltage drop can make your battery undercharge and/or reduce the useable energy Wh from the battery.

The kosher thing to do is to run CC cable to battery busbar and seperately run the inverter cable to battery busbar. If you must share DC cabling between the inverter and CC then you need to upsize the common cable gauge to be enough to carry the combined maximum inverter and CC current without overheating and with minimal voltage drop and yet this practice is strongly discouraged.

This CC appears to be attempting a very rudimentary Ignore AC for battery/solar self consumption algorithm (mimicing ESS like behaviour) - you are better served using one of the hybrid inverters which make DC solar energy directly available on the inverter AC bus or implement thesame logic this CC attempts with a cheap AliExpress battery sensing (LVD) relay. Essentially your CC is switching the Grid supply ON/OFF - this is very coarse control because what you really want is solar (and sometimes battery) priority where you source only the balance of energy that solar (or battery) cannot provide from the Grid.

That's absolutely correct with reference to voltage but the point I was making was in reference to SOC levels... You can be discharging lifepo4 up to 80% dept daily without worry after 4 months but same can't be said with lead acid but ofcourse if op can reliably verify the capacity all good.
