I'm struggling to understand why he used pwm and mppt charge controller.
Please, change that short naked wire across the two battery terminals. It's dangerous...

Which wire do you recommend I use bro

Please I need help.

I have 300 (3) and 250 (1) solar panels
100 lead acid battery (2)
Inverter 3000w sachet

Because of my 12v, so the the installer add another pwm cc to the existing powr mppt because he said the mppt could only take 3 panels.

During the day, i still don't have sufficient energy to power 120w freezer and two ceiling fans with 2 tv

What's the ampere rating of your powmr cc? Is it the 60A variant? Why did he say the mppt can't take more than 3 panels? I am aware some people exceed the max wattage rating for their cc. In ur use case, the 60A powmr cc can take max of 720w. for a 12v system.

If you use 3 pcs of the 300w panel, that's 900w in total, giving a difference of 180w excess.

Please make sure your comparison is balance by using windows from 2011-12 and Macs of the same year .... Can't say about recent years windows because I made the switch many years ago....
Have you used a Mac?
wat is so special abt a mac.. assuming the same hardware specification..

Pls read ur inverter manual well, theres a reason for it. If I'm not mistaken, there's a limit to the nos of panels u can connect to it. I think 3000watts or less. Pls confirm before connecting ur panels seeing as u av made ur purchase already.

Hi Dr,

Thank you for calling my attention to this. Please I have attached a screenshot of the solar charging parameters on the body of the inverter.

Kindly advice.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by BlueStripper: 4:41pm On Mar 31
Valentinooo:

For solar input, What's the max power rating of your inverter?

Coming from your panels:
625W x 8 panels = 5000W
At 80% efficiency = 0.8 x 5000 = 4000w

Last last, e be like say na 6 of those panels you go do in series.

Modified:
If it 3000w as speculated by Drgreatone then just do 6 series.
625W x 6 panels = 3750W
At 80% efficiency = 0.8 x 3750 = 3000W

Hi Val,

You are correct on this. I think it's 3000w

Please find the attached solar charging parameters and advice please.

Thank you

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by easyyoke: 4:43pm On Mar 31
jonescosmos:

Nope.
It's because the solar panel energy is oversized and the Grid has been made the last option to draw energy from.
So the inverter draws as much power as possible from the panels, Charges Battery if the SOC is less than 60%, Powers up the smartLaod interface which is where Water heaters and ACs are connected. With one ACs connected to the UPS Load interface.
If at night time and the battery SOC drops to 40%, the SmartLaod Interface shuts off, and if the Battery SOC drops further to 20% and the sun is not up, Grid interface is turned on to handle the energy demands till sun up.
Take a look at the attached picture. It's 10Am and am grabbed more than 6Kw from the panels already.
It goes up to like 15kw sometimes.

Omo!!!!! Bro, how many panels in total(Watt) did you install for you to be seeing as much as 6kw as early as 10am

Similar happened to me when my installer attempted my installation, although mine was a case of over voltage from battery to inverter. He connected the batteries in series and used my 12v inverter. The inverter just blow. Until now I no see am repair. It has been with different technicians for the past 6 months and none has been able to repair it. I just counted my losses and moved on. It's now scrap as far as I am concerned.

What type of inverter is that
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by easyyoke: 4:49pm On Mar 31

The picture has all the details. But since you asked.

PV is 15KWp (16x 600w Canadian Solar Panels. 10x 540w Felicity Solar Panels)
Inverter is Deye 8KW EU Model x2 in parallel
Battery is Felicity 15KW x4 in parallel though capacity test topped off at 13.5KW. So I have 54KW Battery literally.

Interesting. What did you use to test the battery’s capacity. I have always known that these Felicity batteries must be overated. Imagine a whole 1500kwh short. What did you use for the capacity test to take the reading

.. There are two types of jinko 625w panels. The N 72 and N 78 half cut cell. Each have difft voc rating so i cant proffer a solition until i kno the specs of your type of jinko 625w panel. U can as well snap the nameplate on the back of the panel.Btw what brand if inverter is this

OMG! TechGeek you just saved a life.

I checked the VOC of the panel. Damn! That would have been brutal.

I ordered Chint MCB's as against the fake Schneider that was once supplied to me by a vendor here.

Thank you so much Sir. God bless you

Where did you get it from?
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by TechGeek777: 5:28pm On Mar 31
Edrizz:

Oh, you're right brother. I just checked n saw that it's truly within d range of 55.17 and 55.72

His best bet is 4s2p then provided that d amperage of controller is 40amps n above

4s2p won't be efficient, the minimum voltage for that IVEM3024 is 120v, but 360v is the Nominal Voltage(Where the inverter will achieve maximum efficiency).

7s1p or 8s1p if distance from pv to inverter is much.

NB: Max Voc of your inverter is 500v and not 400v as stated.

Good Morning Everyone, Happy Easter to you all.

I recently just started the green energy journey with a few mistake and it's been fun.

I joined the Felicity crew cuz my friend was using their products but would have gone with Growatt or Epever if I knew what I know now. (No regrets).

I'm a smart home Enthusiastic and a sucker to stats and monitoring. cool cool grin

My current set up is - Felicity 5KVA inverter (IVPS 5048 ) + Felicity 80amps MPPT + Felicity 5KWH 48v Battery (LPBF48100) + Jinko 435w panels x 6

I found a couple of ports on my inverter (RS485 & RS232), charge controller (RJ45) and batteries but cant get them to communicate with each other. Is there a way to read information from these ports wirelessly or access them remotely.

Please I would be happy to learn. My thought is that those ports arent there for decoration but there's very little information about felicity setups and remote monitoring online.

Please help me or point me in a direction to follow. Would love to read the power generated from the panels and add the stats to home assistant.

That inverter will consume nothing less than 80w as Idle Consumption and battery is small compare to pv size and number bank.

Although the inverter us rugged, it's sure to outlived many hybrid and non-hybrid inverter on the market now!

No worries Edrizz,

Thank you for the help and support this far.

The amperage is 80amps. Should I still proceed with 7 panels in series ?

The inverter has Max Pv Input Current of 15A.

Your pv has 13.92A

DON'T parallel, only series.

What is the rating of your fan, is it all those ORL giant 60 type of fan that takes like 140watts on speed 5? What is the rating of your two TVs? Are they lead TVs or just plasma?

But this your connection na wa. Your installer no try at all. You no fit buy trunking pipe and make it neater ni?

This fan is Max 82w when used with 1.5mm wire

Thank you so much Edrizz

Max Solar Voltage (VOC) 400VDC

If max input current is 15A, doing 4s2p will waste a lot of valuable power as inverter will only take 15A from the combined 2 strings.

You'll be better off with 7s1p. The controller will clip the excess pv power to 3kw as per your nameplate specification. 7s will ensure your input is below 15A and VoC below 400V.

Can anybody recommend a good MPPT charge controller that has bluetooth app please such that I can easily set/change the controller’s settings on my phone. Sometime readily available in our Nigerian market.

This is part of the reason hybrid inverter is better.

Wait to hear the cost of getting MPPT with Bluetooth, you will see that hybrid is far better!

Exactly why I asked him to reaffirm the inverter VOC cos I only saw 500v VOC in both 3024 and 5048, 15amps n 20amps respectively on Isc of the IVEM type of d said brand

He should check his inverter manual n thoroughly read through n engage an installer if need be
