grafikii: by now, you should have used a voltmeter to check the batt voltage, and inform us. dumb charger is available on jumia /konga..... if you are savvy, there is a way you could adjust your cc settings, and try to use it as a dumb charger, but from your questions, i highly doubt, you have the skills to try the above suggestions. if the battery is so dead, that it has short circuited, so trying to force charge it will damage whatever equipment you are trying to use to charge it....this goes for ur ups question |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:29pm On Oct 26, 2019 |
grafikii: First, I think it is better you find out the voltage of the battery. There are very cheap meters out there that can do that. To answer your question, the UPS can not function as the dumb charger. When you find out the voltage, the best option is to try to charge the battery in parallel with another healthy battery. This is just a 50-50 affair as your batteries may be irredeemable at this stage. But you can't be sure unless you've tried all the options available. |

grafikii: Time to try to charge it parallel with a working system. Find a friend with a working system. Turn off the friend's inverter and connect your battery in parallel with theirs. You may require the services of a sort of expert to pull this off. After some minutes, say 30 minutes of charging. Disconnect your battery and measure it. If the voltage rises to about 8v or so and stays there, you may just have a working system. But if it didn't, you may just have to get a new battery. I have once used this system to revive a battery reading 0.5v and 1v etc. But sometimes the batteries will refuse to retain any voltage in them after this stunt. By then, you just don't have any choice but to sell it as scrap and get a new one. It's a tough pill to swallow, but then there is some lesson to be taken off that experience. Check the diagram attached; a very rough hastily sketched diagram but at least it may give you an idea of the connection in parallel. Please mind the polarity of the batteries while doing this, hence the need of an expert or someone who knows about battery connection. This is just to give you an idea. Cheers. 1 Like

Guys I'm looking for a fairly used 500w-1kW 12v Hybrid inverter, hopefully from anyone here that's looking to upgrade to a 24v/48v system. Kindly quote me if available. Direct owner please. |

grafikii: Wow this is definitely a critical battery volt & definitely 90% irredeemable ! Was the said battery left uncharged for years ? What drained your batteries to this battery volt level ! You also need to check the "LBCO" of your power inverter if you end up getting another set of batteries alas .. dataking: You can check their documentation at their website below. A few differences: GK: Batteryless, and high Voc, 3KVA has 80amps charge controller, support 4000W panel MK: Parallel support, zero switching delay, low VOC, 3kva has 60amps charge controller, support 1500w panel https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/pip-mk-series/ Regards 2 Likes |

mcTrinity:what about i have solar 8 modules rating (250w, 30v, 9v) and is connected 4s2p to a charge controller of 150v/30A(pv rating) to a 400ah battery. Will this charge adequately?. Note that the panel connection will give 120v/19amps(Mppt controller), difiling the c/10 rule but multiply amperage will still gives same watt that will let the connection be made in low wire ratings... |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by hancock(m): 9:47am On Oct 30, 2019 |
ojeysky:Does the GK series mix grid and solar power together? the MK series does this flawlessly. Simply put, if grid line (PHCN) is present and the solar panels are active during the day, the MK series inverter will draw power from both sources thereby reducing your PHCN bills For most other inverters, and CC, they cut-off the PV to 0W production when the batteries are fully charged and grid line is present. Imagine your batteries fully charged at 11am in the morning with grid line present and the sun is still hitting hard , all that goes to waste. 1 Like |
