*SAY NO TO SCARCITY OF FOOD IN NIGERIA*

Is obvious that food scarcity is ravaging our dear great country Nigeria.

Nobody can deny that...

Before the advent of crude oil, agriculture was the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy. Then, the country’s economy thrived; food was available and affordable. People, therefore, did not go hungry, except in extreme cases occasioned by a serious factor.

I don't know if it has bothered you a bit today that the price of food items are on the high side.

Some foods we neglected in the past has become "staple" today.

Our beautiful country import virtually every thing because of the "curse" of Oil boom.

*Gone are the days of Groundnut pyramid, Cocoa, Palm Oil, etc.*

*Average Nigerian left Agriculture.... everyone left their villages in search for greener pasture.*

*Without knowing that the real greener pasture is in agriculture.*

*Agriculture can be a Wonderful Enterprise.*

*Nigeria population in another 10 years will be about 200million at the 3% growth rate we are going.*

*By then we may not have as much revenue from oil as we had some few years to waste on importing rice, sugar, wheat, milk, fruit juice concentrate, tomato paste, cabbage, lettuce etc.*

*Nigeria is famous as a consuming nation and the political leaders have never taken the matter seriously..*

The question is this.....

*what is the way forward?.....*

*THE DECEPTION OF THE WESTERN WORLD*

The western world have always been uncomfortable with our rich soil....

*Our independence as a continent is in our rich arable land.*

They know if we maximize our land and improve our farming with modern technology we won't need their junks foods and slavery..

*Our brothers and sisters are given free visa to work in their restaurants, feed their aged parents and work as security in their warehouses*

*While our farm lay waste and untapped*

*How long will this continue*?

The western world kept advising our leaders to keep interest rate high to discourage our local farmers from accessing loan so that we will keep importing their products to Africa.

Whereas their govt invest heavily on Agriculture by making it attractive and lucrative.....improving the lives of farmers

They offer interest free loans to their local farmers.

*In The USA and Australia, Farmers are among the Richest people.*

But in Nigeria is not the same......interest rate is so high.

Our oil companies and big businesses easily obtain loan from commercial Banks and micro finance Bank than Agricultural investment..........they consider investment in farming *too risky*

Meanwhile, there are no jobs, our youths, children, retired workers, retired military personnel are grovelling in the mud.

We can't even produce ordinary milk, even some bananas have to come thru Cameroun.

It's a sad story.

*If you and l know there is real money in agriculture perhaps we won't leave our villages and towns to come to the city Hustling for survival.*

*Let's say NO to food scarcity in Nigeria*
