Ways To Safeguard Your Bank Account In Nigeria by Nobody: 12:49pm On Jul 12, 2017 |
Gooday all, Today,i will be giving tips on how to safeguard your bank account from fraudulent elements and hackers. It is a very long post, you can save it and read it at your leisure. Nigeria is a developing country,so also is technology and commerce. Many innovations in the banking system was developed to make life easy, safe and convenient, but also due to some technological advancement, some mystery man may just decide to do a "favour" by gaining access to your account. We don't want that, don't we? Well,i will be describing steps to prevent that mystery man from seeing your bank balance or your withdrawals. This is not your average copy-and-paste people who call themselves "bloggers" do.I am a programmer, and i know how these things work.I am into the system(although imma white-hat,lol) and i know what to do to circumvent these attacks. Without wasting time, let us go in to details: Do not give out your account details to a strange person(s).Always have an extra bank account for your business purposes, linked to your BVN incase you have transactions to do with your business partners.Do not use your personal bank account for business ish.It is dangerous and devastating. To open a bank account is inexpensive,i will give you the shortcodes to all banks in Nigeria in our subsequent posts. Let me break this down:If you mainly use First bank, and you are a businessman, you need to open another bank account, say Zenith or FCMB for your whatever. The reason is this: We humans are all victims of circumstances,it is inevitable.Maybe a transaction was dubious and you were involved(with or without your knowledge),or your account was used to launder stolen or blood money or your transaction exceeded the official maximum limit a Nigerian bank account can carry i.e more than $10,000 in international deposits(yes,it quite happens,i was once a victim),your account may be flagged by the NFIU(Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit),you will be tracked and arrested(We all know how Nigerian judicial system is).To prevent this, a):always be alert about your transactions and report any fishy activities on your account to the law enforcement agencies and to your bank. b):Also, keep copies of your business dealings(receipts, invoices, bank statements, withdrawals and deposits e.t.c) so that the officers will know where to start their investigations from. c):Do not accept unknown payments(especially if you are an online merchant).Always guess the source of these payments, especially from random or unknown people.Do not receive impromptu payments, and let your business(s) partners inform you of any pre-transactions involving money before business can take place. d):i said earlier,do not use your personal bank account for business activities,Always have a seperate account for both.Pleasure and business do not mix! e):If doing a deposit or withdrawal,DO NOT DISPOSE THE TELLER IN THE BANK'S GARBAGE BIN.TAKE IT WITH YOU AND DISPOSE OF IT! Making mistakes when filling a form do happens, but when cancelling a mistake or rewriting another slip, rumple the first one and keep in your pocket or bag.It is not heavy and it won't make you dirty.A random person can use your account to perpetuate evil and you will be implicated. Many people do not come into the bank for money exchange. Some come in the pretense of banking activities and in the process steal customer's information from the garbage bins in the bank. That is how kidnappers, ritualists and scammers(Yahoo Boys) fetch innocent people's account and use it to transfer unwanted money since all accounts in Nigeria must be linked to the BVN. Then they kidnap you and force you to withdraw the money.Someone may be hurt or killed and we don't want that to happen(i hear you saying God forbid.Yes,but it is true, and it is happening!)! SHINE YOUR EYES! The banks will not tell you this because they are all interested in making money at the expense of their customers. They will only tell you what you need to know, but cannot tell you what you need to do if you know,so be wise! f):Do not give out your banking details to your bank manager, parents, spouse, children ,friends or even your househelp. ONLY YOU AND ONLY YOU SHOULD KNOW YOUR DETAILS.Keep it in a safe place that is accessible to you and you alone. g):in (f) above,do not store your banking details on social media or your mail.IT IS WRONG.Supposing a random hacker has unrestricted access to your account? You are finished! 95% of what we paste online are being watched by someone we don't know.THE INTERNET IS A MIRROR.WHAT YOU POST SHALL BE SEEN BY ALL.NO WEBSITE IS SAFE,DO NOT BE DECEIVED WHEN YOU ARE TOLD BY SOME COMPANIES THAT YOUR DATA IS SAFE FROM HACKERS.WHAT IS BUILT BY MAN SHALL BE DESTROYED BY MAN.I will teach you on how to find your previous social media posts on Google Search. You will be shocked by what you will see,but that talk is for another day. h):Before using your bank details online for payment, always check the authenticity of the website. Some sites are cloned to be like the original website, and hackers uses it to collect your details. To verify a genuine website, always check your browser search window. If it shows a green padlock sigh,it means the site is legit. But nevertheless,no site is is a strong fortress. In my subsequent articles,i will tell you how to identify scam and original financial sites, and how you can make anonymous payment without revealing your identity. i):Also,if a strange person calls you to supply your banking details through telephone,DO NOT TRY THAT! j):Also,if you receive an SMS or an email telling you that you won something, and you need to supply your banking details,DO NOT DO THAT! k):Or if someone through word of mouth tells you of a certain too-good-to-be-true promotions or offers, and ask you to bring your banking details,DO NOT DO THAT! l):Utilize Google to search for companies doing promo, check the duration, participatory details and authenticity of ANY promotions/offers(promo),and ALWAYS USE A SPARE BANK ACCOUNT,NOT YOUR PERSONAL ACCOUNT! REMEMBER SAY AWOOF DEY PURGE BELLE OOOOO! Use the Power of Google to save your head! That is all for now. I will update you on any security challenge we need to solve on your banking details. Incase you need any information, you can reach me on; Facebook:facebook.com/WizeOba Gmail:maxithonnie@gmail.com Read and guard yourself! Thanks for your time and have a nice day! Thonnie NG wtote this article to safeguard the general public on the means to fight insecurity on the Web.
