So I have read the previous thread and this, if it was true they had a near accident, its very possible the guy had an internal injury, most likely hit his head hard , and then later screamed in pain.

As for not reporting to the police, how many Nigerians report to the police when they had an accident in which someone died. I beleive those in the bus will still be in a state of shock from that experience, tires screeching and all that.

I believe the parents may be suspecting foul play because he was the only one that died, but he might have just been the only one that was injured which led to his death , even ghastly accidents do happen in which just one person dies.

How will autopsy just say murder, which sort of report is that. Autopsy should show if he was stabbed, if he was hit or if his head hit something.

I suspect that guy had a terrible injury during that so called near accident maybe his head impacted something, almost certain of that. By the way they did the right thing by taking him to the hospital when they saw he was bleeding. they should also realize that those other people too in the bus were likely still shocked from the near impact.

And knowing the NPF I hope all of them are released soon.

Internal Injury does not bleed externally.. grin grin grin Wetin you dey smoke for there?

People report accidents where a life is almost lost. That is the natural thing to do.

Oya explain how someone sitting on the right side of a packed Bus died from injuries on the left side of his Head? undecided I will wait.

What about his Mobile Phone that was blood soaked that can't be found? Explain that too..

If na your pikin or relative we dey talk about like this, will you still arrive at the same conclusion?

You can't keep detaining someone you don't have any evidence against.
It is okay for the police to label them suspects but they cannot justify detaining them for this long.
I don't blame Nigerians when they refuse to help strangers because our police are a bunch of opportunistic folks who try to make money out of every issue.
What if they all alighted from the bus like others without showing any concern and the driver dropped the injured passenger by the road side and zoomed off? Will the police have had any 'suspect' to detain?
Our police force need to wake up and stop behaving like vigilantes.

You may need to start watching a lot more Crime and Investigation Television to understand how the Police Works.

If they dumped him by the side of the road, then everyone that was in that Church on the Night of the Vigil becomes a suspect.

But seeing as he died in a Bus and nobody on the Bus felt the need to contact the Police, they are all complicit in this matter.

Even in the other story, I kept wondering what caused the guys injury since the accident was averted? Cos it doesn't make sense, someone may have stabbed him or something. The religious zealots invaded that thread so I had to mind myself before I am tagged an unbeliever

Shedding light on that grey area MAY be the key to unravelling the case

Don't blame the parents thou, you gotta be double sure he died of Natural cause(s).

It is possible the deceased was attacked somewhere around the vigil general area by ......... and he escaped with his injury only to join them in the bus as a get away means

It is very possible that the deceased may have smashed his head on something maybe on the sudden brake of the bus on encountering the trailer. What are the odds that somebody enters a bus bleeding and nobody takes note?

However,

Why didn't any of them report the crime?? For something as grievous as a death to have happened and those that witnessed it all kept quiet, they become accomplices one way or the other.

This is just one analogy.. All those that witnessed the crime and did nothing shouldn't go off lightly. In saner climes, people report break ins and burglary attempts. So much for people coming from a religious gathering.

Witnessed a crime? What crime?

Loool, Na akamu I wan drink. grin
I understand your point but it is a possibility he had one and then maybe a physical wound. The previous thread said blood was coming from his mouth too.

A lot of Nigerians don't report despite the fact that its the natural thing to do, a lot of Nigerians try to avoid the Nigerian police for obvious reasons.

That's where autopsy should come in, the truth of the matter is that the near accident they claimed happened is why there's a lot of postulations but in all honesty what's the possibility of him being stabbed in a packed bus except it was planned by everyone on that row or something. But this one autopsy is saying murder I don't understand.

Mobile phone could have been stolen, this is naija na.

I never concluded, I just postulated besides there is also a possibility that the guy may have been stabbed before he entered the bus.

If this happened in a more developed country, we will be sure that the case will be solved but this is Nigeria , where autopsy said murder they should try to spill the details.
Re: Updates On The Incarcerated UNIBEN Pharmacy Student by kpoins: 11:20am On Jul 15, 2017
Some of us spilling trash didn't read the previous post on this issue.
From the previous post,it was gathered that the parents of the victim was there when their son gave up.The only reason i am blaming Uche and co is because they failed to report the issue to the police.
The deceased parents went and lodge a complain to the police and you know our police system....The complainant is always right except of course the accused is financially loaded.
At this point, the church should step in and invite the deceased parents and find a way out of this mess .
The police has no clue what went wrong and they are not interested in pursuing justice but to make fortune out of this issue.
May God vindicates the innocent.

On the topic at hand.
The police in every democratic part of this world don't have jurisdiction on murder case, hence don't have the right to grant bail. The only way to secure a bail for a murder suspect is through the court. That involves the usual requirements of surety and other related requirements.
Also in this type of case, the most important thing is to make sure you are not sympathetic In anyway. Being sympathetic toward Amy of the party Involve is a big sabotage to justice.
On this case lot of theories will be developed and tested . I need you to know that the defendant theory as already failed the test , when the autopsy proved it's a murder case . Remember that prior to this the case was classified as homicide , but autopsy proved otherwise.

shocked

This story is just as fishy as the one Osinbanjo told reporters upon return from visiting Buhari in London.

It doesn't add up..
Unless the boy murdered himself to set Uche and co. up.
This doesn't make sense either

So the police are on the right track.
Uche, the driver and the people who rushed him to the hospital should be given the same torture Evans received that made him sing like a liberated Canary .

I don't trust these pastors
I don't trust these young boys
I don't trust the city where this event happened.

If you've ever visited that town, you'd know that every young boy is groomed to want to have his own '4-flats' and Toyota Venza before getting to 23years by any means necessary.
You might even see the anointed girl who led praise and worship in the last Sunday service being bathed at the Ikpobha river by a priestess.
Anything is possible in that city!!!

Just in case Uche is innocent, he will be vindicated and set free.

And this should serve as a deterrent to overzealous students who have forgotten their only reason in school is to study and bring back a certificate and not being church/fellowship recruiters and religious fanatics.
A rather myopic thought there from you. Why do you have to label the city where this happened bad, like it cant happen anywhere.

So going for a vigil had become a problem as a student. Did it affect his grades?

The matter is a very serious and delicate one and as such should be handled from a very diplomatic and experienced point of view and not from a naive or myopic point like yours.

My friend,stop all this .
That guy most likely bled from a blunt trauma, which is common from an averted accident where for instance, a person hits is abdomen, chest or head on a seat or an iron bar on a bus.
This kind of trauma will not cause obvious injury but "internal injury".

Combined with the head injury they saw ,it is safe to say the guy died of a concussion as well.If a person hits his head on a window, there will be no blood anywhere, but an injury has definitely occurred.

As the OP said the bus stopped in central hospital, isn't it possible his shoes and phone was stolen by "helpers"?and the bible left in the hospital as well?

I hate Nigerians like this OP. Seeing the truth but obviously being emotional.it is so wrong to detain this guy
it's wrong to detain the guy without conviction, but everyone in the bus is a suspect. I read through what the op wrote there is no bias in his write up unless you want discharge and acquit everyone involved because they were coming from church.

The only problem I see here is that our law enforcement lack the ability to carry out good investigation.

don't mind they want to use religion to obscure justice. If it's murder please let's sweep it under the carpet cause they were coming from night vigil? None sense.

Innocent or guilty, they should be kept there till questions are answered and an advice comes from the department of public prosecution pls...

No one is talking about the guy that lost his life in a very questionable circumstance in the presence of this same people and none of them can explain...

The first thing they ought to have done was to report the incidence to the police and not sweep everything under the carpet as they did by washing the bus of the guy's blood and disappearing and leaving the deceased boy's parents with his corpse...

What defence do they have to prove their innocence now that an autopsy proves that something fishy was covered since even the claimed accident was averted, something happened to the guy and he didn't scream until blood was discovered by others, his bible, shoes and said phone have varnished and worse of all, the issue wasn't reported to the police until his parents did after his death...?

I smell foul play here... D initial post said autopsy hasn't not been carried out and 5 persons were unjustifiably detained by d police. Now d autopsy indicates murder. What if d victim hit his head against a part of d bus. Was there any check on the bus to prove otherwise? So it is only d 5 detained persons dat committed d murder? To me, dis is a classic act of NPF detaining someone till dey loot u dry! Yeye dey smell!

When you say free bro what do you imply? I don't like making assumptions
Re: Updates On The Incarcerated UNIBEN Pharmacy Student by morounkola(f): 1:45pm On Jul 15, 2017
Lessons learnt;

1. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Assuming Uche and others were innocent, being ignorant of the law has put them in greater trouble.

2. There is this PSA all over the tv when I was young. It was sensitising people of the danger of accepting or giving lift to strangers. Now, I have to take that information seriously before good deed turns bad. Accepting lift from strangers has caused that guy his life (assuming he was murdered in the bus). Also, giving lift to strangers has put Uche and others in trouble (assuming they were innocent of what led to this guy's death)

May God comfort the family of the deceased. I also pray that Almighty One would not allow the innocent to suffer unjustly.

And what of those that already alight? they are suspect too.

And to think the autopsy conclude it as Murder is fishy.

No one is saying, the police shouldn't carry out investigations, but detaining an innocent person is wrong! if he's consider as a suspect, they should at least release him on bail & allow him write his exams.

See earlier thread https://www.nairaland.com/3909434/uniben-pharmacy-student-incarcerated-unjustly

UCHE's account is summarized as thus

On the 31st of June 2017 after coming to school to get his manual being shared, he went home and got ready for a regional vigil by RCCG at sapele road, Benin city. He got on a bus with about 5 others who were his local church members.
After the vigil on the 1st of July, the next morning, he and his church members got on the bus and headed back home. Prior to their departure, church Faithfuls who had vehicles were appealed to by the regional head to help others who didnt have adequate transportation. As Christians UCHE and his group thought it laudable to help. The bus was full to capacity when they departed The vigil camp. According to UCHE, he was tired so he folded his arms and tried to sleep. He was woken from sleep when the bus was almost hit by a trailer. After the driver had carefully averted that, he returned to his much needed rest. He was however startled out of sleep when he heard a cry from someone behind the bus shouting "blood". A friend sitting at the extreme right of the last row of the bus with an injury to the left part of his head was discovered alter the person sitting next to him (Not uche) found a phone stained with blood on the floor. The injured fellow was immediately rushed to Central Hospital but were redirected to UBTH where he unfortunately gave up the ghost after much attempt by the medical team.

Note: 1)that some of the passengers alighted before and at ring road.
2) UCHe, his pastor, the driver and the other church members did not report any of this to the police until a complaint was written. The driver particularly washed his bus and did as if nothing happened.

The parents of the deceased grieved and not understanding the circumstance of their son's death went to BDPA police station and filed a complaint. UCHE and the 5persons from his church including the driver and pastor were invited and put in a holding cell to answer some questions. They were moved to another police station for safe keeping until they ended up in the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). It was considered homicide until today when the autopsy reports came in indicating murder.

Note: The commissioner of police told us that According to the LAW, the police has no jurisdiction for a murder case. litigation is the next step. Only The director of public prosecution (DPP) and the law court have such jurisdiction to dismiss, discharge or acquit a murder suspect which UCHE is unfortunately as there is no prime suspect. However There is another way out which is to go into settlement with the complainants so that the case is considered to be "no case."No case, no trial.

I know emotions are high but you will agree that the account and case is complicated so we have to think everything through properly. We have to make informed decisions at this critical time.

There are some gray areas
1) why was the deceased the only one injured?
2) why did he shout or cry out in pain?
3) is it possible he had the injury before entering the bus?
4) why didn't they especially the driver report to the police something that serious?
5) why isn't there a cue of a sharp object in the bus that might of caused the injury as claimed?
6) why can't the deceased said blood stained phone, his Bible and shoes missing up till now?

Lalasticlala please help this ministry

And the result was what? Just Murder? really and that is called autopsy? Autopsy is carried out to determine the cause of one's death not whether it was murder or suicide or accident.... was it caused by a broken bone? internal bleeding? where and where was affected? those are the things an autopsy result should contain not just Murder.

And where exactly did you get the idea that the autopsy result just contained 'murder? An autopsy can be incredibly detailed and still come to a conclusion. In this case, the writer or the police believe that in summary, the autopsy rules out natural causes as a reason for death.

So yes, an autopsy took place.
