This game is still (obviously) a work-in-progress. Please watch the video on youtube and rate it. I know there is still a lot of work to be done as regards the game but please rate it and give your invaluable advice. Thanks. FIRST VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAoPUq-DTSE LATEST VIDEO All done with and within Unity3d. Assets used in this game are free from Unity and Mixamo. This game does not have a story yet, just some code to pick things up and render score to the screen (UI). Also within this game are two NPCs with some animations. Please watch and criticize. Thank You. There is no water in this game yet as it may become too demanding(It will be added later after thorough optimization) CC: greatnaija01 Olyboy16 kayuzie Sojebrand Irelokeh nijabazaar I sincerely appreciate your comments on the first gameplay video. It should splash or at least show the guy got wet... also it will be cool if it talked or had walking steps... Thanks for raising my hope that good stuff can come from naija |

bolkay47: do you have free time? cos i've got a crazy game idea thats gonna sell really good! but its a lotta work, it involves some pretty good AI(i can handle this). also it involves the development of custom hardware(being developed). i could create it on my own but 3D gaming is an area i havent bn opportuned to explore due to my schedules, also, you guys are hard to come by in this part of the world.(i hope u're in Nigeria). if you think you can get the time to take up this project of mine, please reply this thread. We are in lagos, if you need accomodation, we've got one for free! BTW, we are a new startup, you can visit our website (under heavy construction) http://southernwellslimited.com . thanks |

Olyboy16:Thank you for quoting me, I appreciate it. I am a student so only weekends are free for me. In fact, i practice game development during weekends. However, if you have a platform where we can interact and perhaps help each other, let me know sir. Do you use Unity? |

kayuzie:Thanks for the heads up sir. I see you've got interest in 3D game development. Have you any project on your hands? I would love to see it. |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by bolkay47(m): 8:06pm On Jul 20, 2017 |
Sojebrand:Thanks for commenting sir. Honestly its hard for a single person but all you need is just an idea. I'm still testing some things. The game will look much better than that. |

Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Scholar01: 8:14am On Jul 23, 2017 |
Nice work Bro ... I recognize some of the assets used. (Am even using that guy with the face cap as the main character for one game like that — I think I would have to search for another gangster looking character sha ) Try to work on the colliders on the buildings (the player was walking through them) Also which asset do you use for the third person controller? I think it's really cool |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Scholar01: 8:25am On Jul 23, 2017 |
Olyboy16: What you guys need is really a team. For such a custom game, am afraid one person is not enough. For example, you would need a team of artists to model, rig and animate the models you would require. The assets the OP used would not do. |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by nijabazaar: 9:29am On Jul 23, 2017 |
Scholar01: was thinking in that line too |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Olyboy16(m): 10:57am On Jul 23, 2017 |
Scholar01:we have a team, i myself have working knowledge of 2D animations in js and javafx, intermediate practical AI knowledge. my team consists of an elect elect guy who is making the custom hardware with me, a c++ geek as with i also, a 3D animator(he doesnt make moving animations yet) and another graphics artist. i'm still working hard on perfecting the storyline and the AI data scheme; we are also prepping the hardware too. so a 3D game dev like bolkay47 will really boost the team. |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by bolkay47(m): 11:43am On Jul 23, 2017 |
Scholar01:Nice one sir. I will work on it. Its just to test things. About the assets, they are free to use even commercially. What you can do with it is what matters. I quite agree though, those assets are not enough if you intend to build an extremely pleasing game. Hope you grab? |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by bolkay47(m): 11:46am On Jul 23, 2017 |
Olyboy16:3D game development is not easy. However, things become easier if you have a team of asset developers. Thats what i need. |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Nobody: 11:55am On Jul 23, 2017 |
So u download d assets? Or make them? |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by bolkay47(m): 12:13pm On Jul 23, 2017 |
justanALIAS:The assets are made available by Unity. Do you use unity? |

@OP you never talk about the third person controller that you used O |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Scholar01: 12:45pm On Jul 23, 2017 |
Olyboy16: I don't really understand what exactly you have in mind but you would need much more than one 3d game guy. Let's see AI You guys most likely would most likely would either go with unreal engine ( not likely though) or unity3d. Let's assume you are going with unity3d (as I haven't seen naija guy that's good with with unreal). To develop AI for unity3d, you need to be very conversant with the way unity3d works and a host of unity APIs. Also you can't use Java and C++ to script in unity3d — only C# and unityscript. Am not familiar with conventional AI scripting, but am not sure how much of it would transfer to the game — so you would at least need one unity3d C# guru to script the AI (unless you want to take the time to start learning the game engine or buying one of the several AI assets available on the asset store) 3d models You mentioned one 3d animator and one artist ( 3d?) . So they are the ones that would handle all the 3d models required to bring the story to life? Since you mentioned a story, am guessing it would need a host of characters ,environments, buildings, etc. So only those two would handle all the sculpting, uv mapping, shading, rigging, animating necessary for the models? Also, I don't understand how the custom hardware component comes into play or are we not talking about the usual sort of games that run on mobile and console? Also web animations are very very different from 3d animations ... I rest my case |

Scholar01:Happy Sunday! I used unity third person controller. Do you use unity? Any link(s) to your projects? |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Nobody: 6:25pm On Jul 23, 2017 |
bolkay47:No, just like the idea. Nice work |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Olyboy16(m): 6:34pm On Jul 23, 2017 |
Scholar01 i really appreciate your concern and inputs sir. the game idea has been in my head for a very long time! so i am not in any rush to develop the system, infact its a side project. and i know unity would be the best solution here. i'm yet to learn the tool myself (i knw c# though) cos of work schedules, but i believe i'll find someone soon to work with me. the hardware are custom game controllers i invented (pretty cool), i'm working on drivers for the controllers so they can be used by other developers. so i think the controllers are gonna come out first maybe? anyway, work is still on little by little; i dont intend to release anything out yet, until i find good 3d artistes and game devs. |
Re: UPDATED: Third Person 3D Game Developed In Unity3d by Olyboy16(m): 6:59pm On Jul 23, 2017 |
bolkay47:i can arrange for that easily, i'm we'll sure they're here on nairaland, shouldnt take more than one nairaland thread. but being a student you may not be fully engaged as i would want you to. so, maybe when you've got free time, like i mentioned on my first post. the game is a lotta work |

Olyboy16:Hi. How far have you gone with your project? Any room for collaboration? Game ideas?. Note that I am only interested in 3D games and the above videos are my early projects. I am working more on developing flexible and responsive UI, game mechanics, lighting, environment rendering, physics and general optimization for Mobile gadgets. This is due to the overwhelming relevance of the mobile market for small budget indie games. |

Really nice of bro! I have to admit you have a lot of focus - I for one am a sucker for tech and struggle with focusing on specific platforms. Was starting game programming, only to gain admiration for cryptography then... Might I suggest making your trees physical and adding shadows to your scene. Makehuman is an opensource software for creating models (fully rigged, low-poly). Sweethome is good for creating buildings. But, aren't you bothered about restrictions imposed on unity? |
