IJE earns NFC pass-mark[/size]

THE film, IJE, a 35mm cine production by a US-based young Nigerian, Chineze Anyaene, had a sneak preview, recently, in Jos, the Plateau State capital, drawing commendations from the managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Mr. Afolabi Adesanya for a job well done.





The film, which featured two of Nigeria's best female actors, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Ekehinde, drew a large crowd of film enthusiasts to the screening room of the National Film Institute, Jos, venue of the sneak preview, which was filled to capacity.

Betraying much emotions and satisfaction for the outcome of the film production at the premiere, Anyaene said she was grateful to the NFC for the tremendous equipment and technical assistance/support extended to her during the film shoot. According to Anyaene who produced and directed the film, the Nigerian Film Corporation's capacity to assist and support film makers in Nigeria is overwhelming and praised the Adesanya led NFC for providing the needed industry support for practitioners.

Filmmakers, in the Diaspora, especially, she said have been following the successes recorded within the Nigerian film industry. This, she said explains why filmmakers around the world are now eager to partner Nigerian filmmakers from script-to-screen.

IJE, a film of a fight for legal freedom from an alleged murder charge was partly shot in the United States and in Nigeria.

Adesanya commended the production, saying that indeed better days are ahead for the Nigerian film industry. He praised Anyaene for having the courage to embark on the production, assuring that the NFC will not shy away from her responsibility of supporting/assisting film makers whose work(s) stand not only to bolster the nation's profile as a film production and destination country but also boost the nation's creative economy.
