Other options include Blogger (by Google) and Typepad, both of which allow self-hosted blogs.

its no secret that google favours and gives fast ranking to wordpress more than they give to blogger sites. however this fact is much determined by the use of seo plugins and how fast your site is crawled by google.

Sometimes, some questions needs to be answered with experiments.
I once Started off with blogger, I left because of the SEO features it dosent have!
I came to Wordpress, and I was at home!

Wordpress.org is better than blogger on all ramifications.
You want to start a blog? Goto Wordpress!!
You need a search engine boost? Goto Wordpress.

Wordpress is better than Blogger!!

Google does favor one against the order.

The two main factors are
- ease of crawling and
- quality content

For obvious reasons, Google bots finds it easier to crawl default more than default WP.

However, once you can set up your robots and site map on a bug free template on WP, Google bots will then enter and consider other factors like domain age, authority, content, keywords and backlinks
