Amodu is a 50% Coach.

Amodu no doubt is a good coach. But no matter how good a coach is, he would not play the match himself. A coach is therefore as good as his bench, As good as his entire team, as good as his last match and as good as his total result.

Now please rate Amodu over 100%

Total Result: 25% (For arguably lifting Nigeria from 50th to 15th position)
His Bench & substitutions: 0%
Entire Team Selection & Tactics: 0%
His last match: 25%

This makes Amodu a 50% coach, through and through.

Which team would a 50% coach in the EPL be coaching?

1. Fulham
2. Stoke City
3. Rovers
4. Sunderland
5. HullCity
6. Burnley
7. Wigan
8. Bolton
9. Westham
10. Wolverhampton
11. Portmouth

When would any of this team win the EPL or CL? If you can answer that, that is when the super eagles would win the Nation Cup or World Cup. No sentiment.

Nigeria need more than a 50% Coach. Qualifying for world cup on two occasions on the misfortune of another team is not a mere coincidence. It is a 50% coach way of ualifying for major tournament.

When westerhof did it, we only needed a draw, not a win and misfortune of another team.

Let’s take a clue from Egypt. Perhaps Ghana would have won that match if not for the inclusion of Gedo. And in fifteen minutes, Gedo won the cup from the bench. That is not a conincidence, the same coach had won 3 consecutives finals beating all the continent best teams: Including Ghana, Cotevoire, Cameroon,Tunisia e.t.c when was the last time we defeated any of these continental giant?

Super Eagles lost to the worst Ghana Side – Imagined what would have happened if Appiah, Essien, Muntari, etc had played.

I feel sorry for AMODU, but he is too sentimental, and lacks the depth to lead the team. Until the day Amodu can stand his feet on the ground and have his way in team selection and substitution, until when he can look beyond featuring rusty players not even on the bench for their clubs, until when he can feature any Nigerian not minding whether he plays in Nigeria, Africa or Europe, Until the day he stops receiving royalty from his players for automatic shirts, he would continue to be a 50% COACH.

Can we compare the brain of Amodu with a Capello and the likes at the world cup? Are we crazy?

Can we compare the brain of all the lecturers in our universities to the brains of the nobel peace prize winners
Can we compare the brains of our doctors to the brains of those doctors doing, heart, kidney etc transplant or separating siamese twins
Can we compare the brains of our engineers to the brains of those engineers who built Petronas Towers, Burj Khalifa etc
Can we compare the brains of all our past presidents to the brains of the lee Kuan Yew (Singapore) or Late Konrad Adenauer (Germany)
Can we compare the brains of we posters on NL to the brains of those kids hacking into CIA servers

One can go on and on

Have we sacked our lecturers, doctors, enginners, presidents, posters on NL?
Is it not curious that while we are using generators to watch super eagle matches, PHCN staff are also abusing Amodu and calling for his staff
Ditto for NNPC staff while fuel scarcity has become a way of life for us

@e-pentium
When westerhof did it, we only needed a draw, not a win and misfortune of another team.

Westerhod actually made 2 attempts before he got a qualification

He was asked to take over from the indigenous coach (James Peters? - I cannot recall) handling the eagles for the 1990 world cup
We needed just a draw against cameroon to qualify. Westerhof took the eagles to Yaounde and lost
That was how we lost the opportunity to go to 1990 world cup
Had we qualified we would have been 1 out of 2 countries to qualify from Africa

Westerhof was asked to continue handling the team anyway
He got a qualification for USA 1994 after needing and getting a draw at the last match
However this was easier than 1990 world cup
Because the number of teams representing Africa had been increased from 2 in 1990 to 3 in 1994

The guy should lie down abeg. He has tried his best for Nigeria we dont doubt that, but his best is not enough. Lets someone else try and we see how it goes. Is like giving a child a target of passing an exam and the child always get 50%. Is that good performance?
Re: Amodu Blasts His Critics by Akainzo(m): 5:26pm On Feb 09, 2010
So Amodu qualified for 2 WCs and thus he seems to think he is the best Nigeria has?

Note that Amodu's era was when Africa got 5 slots, and thus because of Nigeria's previous performances, we became a seeded country and therefore avoided the big guns.
The 1st qualification, did anybody in the world, including the Benin President, expect Benin to qualify ahead of us as of 2002? Of course, any half rated coach would have qualified from that lot.
In 2009, we needed Mozambique to beat Tunisia for us to qualify, note that Nigeria couldn't beat Tunisia over the two matches, and we largely depended on luck throughout the qualifiers. The same luck we depended on at the ANC.

Amodu is clearly a coach without any clout, which serious coach goes to a tournament with 7 injured players in a team of 25? and which coach plays 3 defensive midfielders in a knockout stage of a tournament? Nigeria played 7 matches and we played the same pattern in each an every match! Haba, that shows a coach without any ideas!!!

For the good of Nigeria's football, Amodu has to go! He can cash in on his contract clauses, but he has to go. Such mediocrity should not be allowed to continue.

Re: Amodu Blasts His Critics by 2tait: 6:08pm On Feb 09, 2010
Nigerians should hold their peace and sheath their swords.

Amodu was neither sacked nor demoted.
He still retains his position as head coach of the super eagles.

NFF is just employing a technical adviser to assist him.
Amodu would still be in SA2010 world cup. In fact he will still be in charge on March 3 when Nigeria plays Paraguay in a friendly match.

See black on black hatred. Nigerians are cursed. The only reason they hate this Amodu guy is because he has the same colour of skin as them and in typical Naija fashion, they do not want to see the progress of next man. Amodu you try, dont mind all the enemies of progress. Shame to bad people. How many Nigerian coaches have achieved as much as Amodu. Even all the oyinbo wey carry teams go Angola wetin them get? Nada. Egypt and Nigeria with indigineous coaches won gold and bronze respectively. I rest my case.

pappilo , The Only Curse we have is the curse of English Value system.

We all think we should perceive ideas and thoughts in the likeness of English people and tradition.

We must not believe that because we lose a game or make a mistake to react irrationally.( As in America they like bombing people like Serbia in 1998 for no reason, now
Serbia has depleted uranium waste, deformed babies in female wombs and other because of irrational uneducated Decision by western retards.

Lets Please Let Naija embark on a Period of time to truly develop the New Naija Perceived in Naija thoughts and likeness.

Re: Amodu Blasts His Critics by Robertpapi: 8:34pm On Feb 09, 2010
U guys are failing to see the reason why he has to always pick the squad he used , and thats why he said again that the squad he picked would still do well at SA 2010.

Before morning and evening training sessions, they all discuss together and they (players) give him ideas on how best they should play and he listens to them cos they are supposedly "experienced". And that gives him confidence! So u can imagine if he had to bring in local based players who are not "experienced" by his own standards.

So my people that man has no depth and technical ability buts thats not to say he wont do well in the nigerian league grin

No be only Italian football, na spanish football!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin

In the spirit of fairness, Amodu should have been allowed to take his team to the world cup and get chucked out in the first round with a basket full of goals. If for nothing else, at least he would have learnt the difference between playing some ill-prepared African teams and playing the likes of Argentina. Grin Grin Grin

Guy, I can't debate with you because you don't understand anything when it comes to meeting target and setting targets. i wonder if you even know anything about Italian or any other football apart from supporting Chelsea that you can't even name 10 players in full from. (don't ask google nor check Chelsea website).

Just because hitv show epl every weekend and just because you pay #70 to watch Chelsea and the rest, you think you already know football.

all this comparison of Amodu and Capello (or Morinho or Wenger) is a bit irritating.
Amodu is no good but he is the best local coach around and has been the best for a very long time.
I am not just typing from the comfort of my room, i have viewed local football from very close quarters and even attended training sessions of many Nigerian league clubs.
These men are not worthy of the title 'coach'.
They are that bad and that is why a coach as bad as Amodu can be the best.

The more important issue is that Amodu is not the biggest problem of Nigerian football.
Our football administration is the biggest problem and it is just an extension of the Nigerian society.
No sane coach will be willing to work with that bunch of charlatans.
They will only get their type.
talent has never been the problem of Nigerian football.Administration has always been.
the problem is getting worse every day, that is why our ineptitude is beginning to show up more often on the pitch.
it is no rocket science.
if we get the administration sorted out and keep the wolves away from the till, we will not need a magician to get our teams working.just a guy with above average tactical acumen and a sense of direction will get us there.
in such circumstances, the likes of Amodu will just be ball boys and kit men in our national teams.
until then, the mediocrity continues unabated.
Re: Amodu Blasts His Critics by supereagle(m): 3:33am On Feb 10, 2010
Nigeria has not learnt any lesson. In 1998, we brought in Bora to replace Trousssier , what did he add to our game, an hit and run coach which troussier later defeated in Asia Cup of Nations in 2000 with Japan. 2002, Onigbinde came in , we a living witness to SE performance.
The same scenario has repeated it self again, we need a White Coach to take us to world cup, a coach that will not understand the mentality of our boys and Nigeria quickly. I am waiting to see the transformation the Coach will bring. Our opponents are busy preparing for us , Nigeria is busy looking for a coach . We have set out to fail.
Re: Amodu Blasts His Critics by Ibime(m): 7:16am On Feb 10, 2010
If we are gonna sack Amodu, we better hire SIASIA, otherwise ITS BEST WE KEEP AMODU.

Those useless thieves at the glass house dont want SIASIA because he doesnt brook no nonsense when it comes to godfatherism and picking old and tired legs.

What can a foreign coach do with so little time to a tournament? Does a foreign coach know our database of available players, and which players have 10 years VAT on their passport?

If a footie federation want to appoint a coach, they dont draw up shortlist and all this megedefegede, they simply identify the right man and make the approach.

Imagine idiots like Lulu and Ogunjobi inviting the likes of Hiddink and Trappatoni for interview? Can an illiterate interview a professor? What kind of questions do they want to ask Hiddink and Trappa?

It is a shame that Super Eagles fans should know more about football administration than the administrators themselves.
