THE Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the weekend expelled four of its members over anti party activities, saying their actions is affecting the peace moves instituted by the State Executive Council of the party in the state.

The four members included the factional chairman of the party in the state, Mr Biyi Poroye, Johnson Alabi, Yemi Ajonibode and Ademola Gentry.

The decision for the expulsion of the four party members was contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Clement Faboyede, who said the dissolved illegal faction led by Poroye executive has remained “irreconcilable, intransigent and disloyal party’s interest and goal.”

According to the statement, the decision to expel the four members followed provocative and irresponsible vulgar vituperation from Poroye and his followers in both formal media and social media.

Faboyede stated in the statement that “as a responsible manager of our party in the state, we feel that these actions cannot be justified or excused particularly in view of our recent experience

“In furtherance of the above, the State Executive Council met on Friday and took due notice of the fact that these people had earlier been invited to appear before the state disciplinary committee of the party and spurned the invitation by refusing to appear. This action is a clear disrespect to the party and the constitution”

Faboyede explained that as part of effort to resolve crisis within the party in the state, the leadership of the party met with all aggrieved sectors and genuine reconciliation was carried out while all the aggrieved members were integrated back into the party.

But the Chairman of the party in the state said “we note most disappointedly that the dissolved illegal Poroye led executive remains irreconcilable, intransigent and disloyal to party interest and goals.

“This is clearly attested to by the many provocative and irresponsible vulgar vituperation in both the formal media and social media

“The State Executive Council therefore resolved that the above people are expelled from the party forthwith.”

However, while reacting to the development, the Secretary of the Biyi Poroye led factional executive, Johnson Alabi, described the exercise as illegal, saying the State Executive Council of the party has no constitutional power to expel them.

According to him, their expulsion can only come from their wards and not from the state leadership of the party as stipulated by the party’s constitution.

“We are still active members of the party in the state, the party leadership failed to comply with the constitution of the party and we cannot be suspended by the State Executive Council but from our various wards.

“And since we are still recognised as member of the party in our various wards, we remain a loyal and authentic member of PDP in the state”

“They therefore cease to be member of the party and therefore cannot take any action in favour of the party or pursue any action or claim against the party”
