MAINSTREAMING IGBO'S IN NIGERIA POLITICS. a lecture delivered by Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, MON

On 29th July 2017, Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu delivered a lecture on 'Mainstreaming Ndigbo in Nigeria Politics' in lokoja the Kogi State capital, at the event which was meant to inaugurate NDIGBO SUPPORT GROUP FOR GYB (Gov Yahaya Bello)His Excellency the fomer Governor of Abia State and his entourage was received at the government house by the Kogi State governor His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the deputy governor and members of his cabinet.

Kogi state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello described the Igbo community as a formidable force in the socio economic development of the state and the nation in general. The governor made this known while receiving the chieftain of the APC (OUK)& his team, governor Bello who described the Ndigbo in Kogi state as law abiding citizens, acknowledged that they had immensely contributed to the success of his administration so far through the prompt and regular payment of taxes and their peaceful co-existence. According to governor Bello, his appointees from the Igbo community had done marvelously and hadn't betrayed his confidence in them. He urged Igbo's across Kogi state to remain security conscious and sustain the bond of unity among them irrespective of states or clan.

Earlier former Abia state governor, Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu applauded governor Bello for building bridges of harmony between indigenes and non indigenes in the state. Chief Orji who was in company of some personalities including Senator Chris Adighije, Hon. Chibuike Jonas and a former deputy chief of staff.

Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu assured the governor of Ndigbo's support to deepen the relationship that is built among each other. The APC Chieftain called on governor Bello to uphold the tenets of democracy and strive to ensure good governance at all times.

The APC chieftain Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who was also the guest speaker at the inauguration of the Ndigbo Support group for GYB spoke the mind of many Nigerians, making it very clear that Igbo's are the power house of Nigeria economic development where ever they find themselves, he said that Igbo's do not discriminate with their investment and development in any part of Nigeria that they settle.

He commended the Igbo community in Kogi state for the ways and manner they have coordinated themselves even in the middle of differences, he further challenged them to continue to show the true spirit and citizenship of the Igbo's.

The former governor spoke of his passion and drive to position and bring the Igbo race to the centre stage politically in Nigeria.

He further spoke of his love and commitment towards one Nigeria, he called on Nigerians to even welcome and accommodate other African countries instead of trying to fight and divide themselves.

He also spoke against hate speeches, and condemned the attack on individuals, instead of speaking to address issues relating to good governance.

The highlights of the occasion was presentation of award to His Excellency Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu by a young man from Abia State, who said he was a beneficiary of OUK's scholarship programme while he was Abia state governor and he credits that to now been asuccessful graduate.

To many Nigerians Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu mean a lot of things, a man who's contact and connections cuts across local and international filed, outspoken leader, a man of impact and strong audacity, deep passion for humanity, he have impacted men and women, old and young, boys and girls, in fact he is called a leader with different faces. He can give everything, but will never give in to intimidation of any kind.

In his closing remarks the Kogi state governor, Yahaya Ballo said that one of the major inspirations of his life is Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu who became a chairman of a bank at the age of twenty five years (25)and became a governor at the age of thirty seven years (37) and have remained the youngest to become governor in Nigeria, because himself (GYB) became a governor at forty years (40) of age.

He called on the Igbo nation to understand and value what they have in the person of (OUK)and encourage him to do more. He immediately inaugurated the NDIGBO SUPPORT GROUP FOR GYB, and commended the the organisers of the support group and promised to increase the Igbo people in his cabinet and called on the governors of the South East to emulate his example.

At those time of the day they are still using projector and someone is holding mic for the other one...this people are very slow upstairs...if u try to correct them, u would see them shouting "young man u can not teach me what I know(if u truely know will they try to teach u), young man I know more than u (inferiority complex)".
