It was indeed an ill sight in Akwa Ibom State as Pandemonium struck early yesterday morning.
A Tanker filled with Diesel was involved in a fatal accident at the Famous Ikot Oku Ikono Junction.The tanker was coming from Portharcourt after filling it with over 35,000 Liters of Diesel.
The Junction is well noted for regular occurrences of Automobile crash.Some years ago,a truck conveying insecticides was involved in a serious accident at the same spot and the truck got burnt and many lives were lost.
Motorist plying this route especially Trucks need to be cautious of this junction.Most of the drivers are not so familiar with the route and I'm very very sure that's the major cause of frequent accident at the Junction.
Akwa Ibom State Government under the leadership of Governor Udom Emnanuel have put things in place to construct a fly over and a big round about at the junction but due to the present Economic crisis in the Country,the Project can't commence.
FRSC should place road signs so that motorist should apply minimum speed level when approaching the Junction.
