let me say its because they don't know they can name a child jesus.....and even d parents that know that they can name a child Jesus are refusing to do so cos they are afraid of being judged by an ignorant society. finally we are too religious to do what we are suppose to do that's y Nigerians are where they are today. 2 Likes |

The proper name Jesus /ˈdʒiːzəs/ used in the English language originates from the Latin form of the Greek name Ἰησοῦς (Iēsous), a rendition of the Hebrew Yeshua (ישוע), also having the variants Joshua or Jeshua.[1][2] In a religious context the name refers to Jesus, the central figure of Christianity. In the Spanish cultural sphere, Jesús (pronounced IPA: [xeˈsus]) is a very common male personal name. Pronunciation /ˈdʒiːzəs/ Gender Male Word/name Hebrew Related names Joshua, Yeshua, Isa 1 Like |

Parents name their children JESUS, but they usually prefer the inflected form JOSHUA or JEHOSHUA, these 3 names are all the same, but they have inflected spelling like in Islam HABEEB,ABIB, HABIB, ABEEB E.TC |

Jesus is just a name, common in latin America like Jose de Jesus. Its Christ that is the saviour. Another name for Jesus christ is Emmanuel and i've seen Nigerians answering it. Very funny they answer Emmanuel and not Jesus. 1 Like 1 Share |

Nigerian are superstitious in everything. They feel its a sign of respect as no one even bears the name God. Anoda way to look at it is that parents don't want their children to be crucified like Jesus or die at 33years. But Stephen and other martyr died horrific death and Nigerians still use their names. To be sincere Nigerians are the most difficult people to understand 2 Likes |

Ignorance is the reason. They believe Jesus is a special name hence shouldn't be given to children but they are all wrong. Anybody can bear Jesus, the difference is Christ. Just like Muslims, anybody can bear Muhammed but the difference is (S.A.W). 1 Like |

Nedfed: Because you worship it, that is why! You will worship his garments if you saw it today. That is what is wrong with many of your black Christians. You just want to worship something. For your information, Jesus is just a name. The Christ is what ought to distinguish him. 1 Like |

Because Jesus is not a christian name. When Jesus was born and named he was not a christian. Christianity started after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The apostles started Christianity, hence we take names after them. |

The variation of the name which is Joshua is used especially amongst Hebrew speakers. The irony is in Latin America the name is used with great reverence . https://www.quora.com/Why-is-Jes%C3%BAs-a-popular-boys-name-in-Mexico-whereas-in-the-U-S-naming-a-boy-Jesus-would-be-considered-bizarre |
