STILL DOPE FROM THE 90S

They made it through the 90s and are still here…..

KINSLEY CHINWEIKE OKONKWO (Kcee)
Singer and songwriter Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo (Kcee) started his career in the  early 2000s  as part of the hip hop duo Kc Presh.

The group entered and won the first Star Quest TV reality show in 2002 which earned them a deal with Kennis music  the biggest record label at the time.

After recording some hit tracks, the group split in 2012 with Kcee continuing his music career as a solo act.

Hispenchant for recording hits certainlyaccompanied him into the second decade of his career when he dropped his massive single “Limpopo” which preceded“Give it to me”, “Pullover ” and “Okpekete” which were all hits that thrilled his growing number of fans.

Kcee would be with us for a long time as he has mastered the act of reinventing himself to remain relevant in the Nigerian music scene.

4.OLAYINKA AYEFELE

Nigerians are committed to our spirituality and have many gospel singers.

Amongst the many is no other but the outstanding Olayinka Ayefele who  emerged in the late 90s and is still churning out successful albums.

The Ekiti state born gospel singer began his music career in 1997 after he was involved in an automobile accident which damaged his spinal cord and confined him to a wheelchair.

Before then, he worked as a journalist and broadcaster at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan, where he also produced jingles and musical works.

His debut album,” Bitter Experience” which was released in 1998 brought him into the limelight. After which, he has consistently released successful and widely accepted gospel albums every year till date.

PETER AND PAUL OKOYE (P SQUARE)
From“Senorita” in the early 2000s to “Bank Alert”, Peter and Paul Okoye (P Square) have continually used their catchy beat and entertaining dance moves to earn the position as the best music group in Nigeria.

The singing, songwriting and hip hop/ R&B dancing brother pair are the only music group which has stood the test of time despite family feud and individual pursuits.

Though controversies about their habit of sample western music, they have successfully scored collaboration with international acts and remained the country's favorite music group over the years.

Well know and widely accepted for their club bangers and celebratory tunes, they are undeniably relevant in the music industry and would remain so for much longer.
