Some men suspected of involvement in the killings of over 18 people at St. philip Catholic Church in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo local Goverment area of Anambra State have been arrested by the Police.

This was made known today Monday 7. August by Ifeanyi Aniagoh SSA to Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano on Social Media.

Willie Obiano with the state Commisioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar, visited the scene of the attack yesterday had promised to bring thos involved in the crime to book.

Police also states that the gunmen shot sporadically at the worshippers when the gained entrance into the church.

According to the state Commisioner “Information further revealed that this is not unconnected to a kind of a ‘gang war’ between indigenes of the state – the children of the same village – who are engaged in a warfare outside Nigeria, precisely in South Africa”.

President Buhari also condemned the attack describing it as an “unspeakable sacrilege”.

“there was no justification whatsoever to target church worshippers and kill them in cold blood.”

The president, however, reassured Nigerians of his administration’s firm and uncompromising commitment to protecting their lives and property at all times.

Anambra state has set Monday aside as a day of mourning for the victims even as more Nigerians have come out to condemn the act.
