Contrary to popular opinion, securing a Nigerian visit visa is a herculean task for many foreigners but with proper documentation it can be less stressful. The following steps are essential in successfully applying for a Nigerian visit visa

Passport Requirements:

Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Nigeria, with at least one blank passport page available for Nigerian visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Nigeria visas.

Nigeria Visa Application Form:

One visa application form per applicant, plus one copy. The Embassy of Nigeria has introduced a web-based visa application form and payment procedure. The Nigerian visa application form must be submitted and paid for online. Please print two copies of the completed form.

Important:
- Be sure to select the correct Consulate, and send your documents to the location you have selected on the visa application form.

- Be sure to print the Google payment receipt for credit card payments and include with your application. If payment is made by mailing a money order, the confirmation of payment must be included with the application. The visa application cannot be processed without proof of direct payment.

- The Consulate of Nigeria charges a processing fee.

The Consulate of Nigeria requires a visa application be completed according to strict guidelines. Make sure your documentation is accurately prepared by making use of Document Preparation Service. After placing your order, you will receive an Application Kit which includes an optional form where you can provide simple answers. If you choose this service a Specialist will work with you to ensure the required documents are prepared according to government and consular requirements. Once your application form is complete, we will return it to you via a secure and encrypted email for your signature, keeping your personal information safe.

Photo Requirements:

One recent, identical, 2 x 2 passport photograph, in color, front view and with a plain/light background.

OR - you can upload a photo when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.

Letter Of Invitation:

If visiting relatives or friends in Nigeria, a signed letter of invitation from host explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and contact information. In addition, the letter must state: "We hereby accept full immigration responsibilities".

- If the host is a Nigerian citizen, a copy of hosts passport must be submitted.

- If host is a resident in Nigeria, copies of host's resident permits and the information page of their passports.

Proof of Travel Arrangements:

Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency or copy of airline tickets showing round trip travel to Nigeria and onward flight.

Hotel Confirmation:

Copy of confirmed hotel and/or cruise reservation(s.) If staying in various hotels, please provide copies of each reservation. A letter from inviting family member or friend is required if they are providing accommodations to the applicant.

Applicants Under the Age of 18:

A child (under 16) who is not traveling with both parents or a legal guardian must provide a notarized letter of consent signed by the non-accompanying parent(s) or guardian authorizing the Nigerian Consulate to issue a visa to the minor. A copy of the child's birth certificate and guardianship or custody agreement documents are also required.

Medical Requirements:

International certificate of vaccination against yellow fever.

Proof of Sufficient Funds:

Evidence of sufficient funds to support stay in Nigeria; most recent bank statement

Try to get the Yellow fever certificate just in case you are asked at the point of entry

Make sure your passport validity exceeds the validity of your stay in Nigeria

Have the contact details of the person you are coming to visit with you just in case you need to verify some information with him

Good luck
