Enugu is in the hands of God! is the common chant re-echoed by the people of Enugu state and indeed, the current leadership is taking dedicated strides to set the standard in terms of development, despite low federal allocations and internal revenue generation.

The vision of the state government under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is to drive development and empowerment for the people of the state and thus he has surrounded himself with like minds - sold to this vision and are willing to execute their activities in alignment.

One outstanding person who is evidently committed to this cause is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora and Special Projects – Barr. Mrs. Olangwa Ezekwu, an indigene of the state from Ezeagu LGA.

Soft spoken yet very firm, disciplined and focused, she has strategically driven collaborative initiatives between the Enugu State government and its citizens specifically those living outside the shores of Nigeria.

In line with her portfolio, she has been able to provide an accessible and viable platform via which the sons and daughters of the state living abroad can contribute their quota towards advancing development of the state through empowerment projects and social-support initiatives.
Known popularly in her community, Akama in Ezeagu LGA as “Okwulu Okalisia” – which is an acknowledgement not just to her height but her zeal and passion towards empowering or helping others within her capacity and beyond, Olangwa Ezekwu is a licensed lawyer both in Nigeria and the United States.

A mother of two and a Masters degree holder in International Law (L.L.M) from Howard University, Washington DC. USA, her track record for advancing developmental initiatives especially spearheading fund raising drives and facilitating effective collaborations can be attested to during her time with the Ovie Brume Foundation, a non profit organization which caters to the less Privileged children in Lagos Public Schools as the Chief Executive Officer.

It is this expertise, along with her endearing people skills and personality she is consistently employing towards serving her people and uniting the efforts of both the government and her citizens under the “Ndi Enugu Diaspora” platform which has resulted in several impactful projects benefitting people in the rural community in the areas of skill acquisition, health, economic empowerment, academic capacity development to mention a few and still counting.

As is the slogan in the State, " Enugu indeed is in the hands of God" as entrusted in the capable hands such as the delectable, versatile and well-travelled Barr. Olangwa Ezekwu. Only better days lay ahead for the state to be attested to by its citizens – together more can be achieved with effective government and private collaborations with Ndi Enugu Diaspora.
