WhiteSoup: Oga, this your English can force Bubu back to Nigeria.. . GEJ scammed ASUU by signing such unrealistic amount and Bubu with his low mentality will allow them to stay at home and rest.... God, the youths of this country are suffering, and all our leaders both past and present deserve mass burial.... 2 Likes |

It is the undiplomacy of men like Garbage Shehu that prolong issues like this. The FG is a continuum and should always be considered as such. The Buhari Adminstration should be made to honour their previous agreements. Imagine Shehu saying that the budget for education isn't more than 400 billion. 400 billion isn't even up to 10 % of the national budget. Nigeria is a developing country and needs to make huge investments in the area of education. Maybe the FG has to slash the legislative budget to just 50bn. That's would save us about 75bn. Maybe the ecological fund needs to also be slashed into half. Maybe govt needs to renew efforts in collecting the 2% Education tax. All I'm saying is, when there is a will , there is a way. The FG have their job cut out for them on this one. 2 Likes |

WhiteSoup:Who is the bigger curse?... GEJ who got deceived by ASUU to make an impossible promise to ASUU but ended up not fulfilling a single part of the promise despite the fact that his government earned over 5 times more than Buhari and also spent twice the time in Aso Rock than Buhari... GEJ is a saint whom you miss but you think Buhari who inherited the N850billion debt from GEJ and is struggling to clear it in this time of low finances is the cursed one in this matter? Some of these Jonathanians, e be like say una get migraine. 1 Like |

Eneze1: And that's the harsh gospel truth. Infact the BIG elephant in the room, in all of ASUU's disputes with the govt has been tuition fees. Both sides have tiptoed around the issue....refusing to face the reality that fees may have to go up....because it does not win votes, and it only makes you more unpopular. To say nothing of provoking student unrest (just a small raise in cafeteria prices led to riots in Nigerian universities in the late 1970's...the famous Ali must Go riots). |

Nwadiuto247: Whoever signed the agreement...fact is that neither PMB or GEJ when he was in office had the resorces to pay N3 trillion naira in extra funding. OK....you that wants PMB to pay N1trillion naira now...keep in mind that our budget for this year was N8 trillion. Keep also in mind that GEJ could not pay N3 trillion to ASUU when oil prices where high because the money was not there.....even in those 'good' times. Keep in mind that our universities need more than that N1 trillion....they need N1.5trillion yearly in funding (according to the terms of the original ASUU-FG agreement in 2009.). And that's extra funding. Govt...ineffective as it is...does not have the money. Leaving us with raising fees....or doing what Denmark does...collecting half your salary in tax to guarantee free education. |
