January 12th 2010, a colossal magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit the island of Haiti killing hundreds of thousands and displacing millions. One month later the threat of a humanitarian crisis looms in its wake, as the majority of the population now live in temporary shelters and makeshift tents, which would not be able to stand the coming rainy season.
In response to the disaster, the Emmanuel TV Haiti Earthquake Relief Team was sent to the island of Haiti. With the help of Emmanuel TV partners, a cargo plane was chartered to transport essential medical and food supplies to Haiti. The international team, including a doctor, nurses, a midwife, evangelists and humanitarian workers landed safely in Cap Haitien Airport in the north of Haiti and travelled in convoy with the UN to Arcahaie, a town just north of Port-au-Prince, where many earthquake victims had fled to.
Upon arrival, the team were welcomed warmly and were given land by the sea by the Mayor of Arcahaie in which to build a field hospital. With no hospital in the town, and the local schools closed due to the earthquake, Clinique Emmanuel provides vital medical care and assistance to the people of this earthquake stricken town. Since the inception of Clinique Emmanuel, three babies have been born, the first of whom was named Emmanuella by her parents in gratitude to God.
In view of the coming rainy season, the team have set up 23 tents, to provide shelter for earthquake victims who have lost everything.
