Few days after the Rivers State Police Command paraded a 200 level Student of the University of Port-Harcourt, Ifeanyi Dike over the rape and ritual killing of an eight year old girl, reports indicate that the suspect has escaped from police custody.
The Father of the child, Earnest Mezuwuba said the suspect escaped from the Police custody shortly after giving his statement at the State Criminal Investigation Department same day he was paraded by the police.
The aggrieved father while lambasting the police for negligence urged them to ensure the re-arrest of the suspected ritualist.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Zaki Ahmed has confirmed the incident explaining that the Police officer that caused the escape of the suspect has already been arrested.
CP Ahmed solicited the support of the public in quickly re-arresting the suspect.
