Nigeria’s FC Hearts clinch Gothia Cup China FC Hearts today proved worthy ambassadors of Nigeria after they pipped Paga United of Ghana 4-0 on penalties to win Gothia Cup China in the U25 category. “It was a hard-fought victory, but we are proud to have gone all the way while flying Nigeria’s flag,” Hearts director Adam Mouktar Mohammed told SCORENigeria “This was an eye-opening experience for everyone involved with the club.” He also commended organisers of Gothia Cup China. “The Gothia Cup China organiers were excellent and warm,” he saluted. “This competition can only grow from strength to strength.” FC Hearts director Adam Mouktar with team’s interpreter celebrate This was the first time a Nigerian team will feature at the annual global youth tournament, which has taken firm roots in the emerging football market of China. FC Hearts beat Paga United, a second division team in Ghana, 2-0 when both teams first clashed in the group stage of the competition. It was a much closer affair today as scores at full time stood at 0-0 with the Ghanaians going all out to avenge their group game loss. However, in the ensuing penalty shootout goalkeeper Abdullah Suleiman stopped all the penalties of the Ghanaians, while Hearts converted four of their own kicks. cc: lalasticlala, mynd44 http://scorenigeria.com.ng/2017/08/19/nigerias-fc-hearts-clinch-gothia-cup-china/ |
