*CAC LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL...*
*Date:* Wednesday, August 23, 2017 *_International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave trade and its Abolition_*

*Topic:* A BLESSING, NOT SLAVE
*Read:* Genesis 39:1-5

*MEMORISE:* _But Laban said to him, If I have found favour in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you_ *(Genesis. 30:27)*

*EXPOSITION*
The best decision Potiphar ever took was that he purchased Joseph, but he carelessly lost him, due to his lack of proper judgement. Jacob walked into Laban's estate to change the latter's fortune, but he was beclouded from seeing Jacob's God in action in his home. What a pity!

How do you handle the likes of Joseph and Jacob in your life, home, ministry and work? Don't end up like Laban who severally cheated the then vulnerable Jacob, and Potiphar who wrongly jailed Joseph, the best slave he ever had. Potiphar would have been so great, if he had handled Joseph's matter more maturely. He listened to a faithless, wayward wife's report. Had he been more observant, he would have looked beyond the economic benefit of Joseph to God's presence in his home. Equally, the selfish short-sighted Laban never benefitted spiritually from Jacob, because he refused knowing and worshipping the YAHWEH of Jacob.

Thank God for Naaman who saw things differently; positively. He benefitted from a faithful, God-positioned slave girl's services and her God (the JEHOVAH Rapha).

Be sensitive enough not to only see and enjoy the economic benefits of people around you. Make use of proper human relations, seeking their benefits also, so as to spiritually benefit from them, the way God wants it. See them as God's providence, placed around you for God's purposes. They might be your deliverer and blessing, in several ways. Handle everyone with God in mind. May you not miss God's purpose in the life of these people, in Jesus' name.

*PRAYER POINTS*
*1.* Lord, let me be sensitive enough, to Your provisions around me.
*2.* Lord, humble me to always see You in the lives of people around me.
*3.* Father, open the ears of our leaders to clearly hear and receive Your Word from those You send to them.

*EXTRA READING FOR TODAY:* Judges 7-9
