We all know that our lives these days are quite difficult. No matter if you are a teenager, a young person, an adult or you reached a certain age life is far from being easy. The personal lives are hectic, the financial stability is shaking and children are more difficult each day. Everything is not as it should be. Sometimes we wonder how our parents managed to get through their lives. Everything seemed to be quite easy but the reality is so different. We wonder why we wanted so much to be adults. If we only have known all these things that we know today... As you certainly know, we cannot turn back time. We live forward and not backward no matter how much we may want that. '' Benjamin Button'' story is not real and if you think a bit, that story didn't end up too well either. Because of all the things enumerated above humans' health seems to be affected, not only physically but also psychologically. This is maybe the worst thing that can happen. People have the tendency to never be pleased with what they have and keep thinking about all the things they don't have. You may say that this is human nature. I say that this starts from the education we received since we were young, to always want more from us and to always try to be better than others. Envy is in our genes since the oldest times. Some people reach their goals but even so it is not enough, while others give up and end up badly. No matter the category in which you consider that you fit in, both sides can be affected by depression. Some people consider this type of disorder just a fad. They think that people plead that they are depressed so they can get attention. This it is far from being true. The depression is a real disease and it is affecting millions of people all over the world. The scientists consider that one person out of ten is suffering from this illness. How bad is it? The answer is pretty bad. Depression is not just a state of mind. People who suffers from it develops other illnesses as well such as anxiety, heart diseases, high blood pressure issues, eating disorders, sleep disorders and maybe other things as well. As you can see depression is far from being a small issue and it should not be ignored. As you read earlier this brain disorder can develop from the youngest ages. Teenagers are very much exposed at it, thanks to the hormonal changes that happen inside of them. You may think is natural to be so. It is natural to be sad after an unfulfilled teenage crush. All of us went through such things. The world we live in today does not allow us to think like that anymore. Kids are exposed since very early ages to violence and competition they are even educated by their parents to be mean, racists and exclusivists. They do what they see. Depression can develop at older ages as well. The hectic lives we live, the busy schedules, the lack of sleep, the lack of outdoor activities and the lack of time to enjoy this life can cause the appearance of depression. We are alive but we forget to live. So, you should wonder are you really alive? This is how depression feels like. You start feeling like a dead man walking. We put a big price on things and we forget about people. All these actions and especially the last one mentioned causes depression at our elders. You know who I am talking about. Your parents, grandparents or other relatives you forgot about can suffer from depression. They suffer because of the abandonment of their family. They suffer because they believe that they did not raised their children well enough so they will not completely forget about them. They suffer because they consider themselves a failure. You may think that all they feel, no matter their age, it is not true. There is no such thing as a perfect youngster, woman, man or parent. You are right but they are also right. We are the ones who allow this to happen. To be able to help we should know which are the main symptoms that can help us drag the conclusion that we or a close person, suffer from this illness. The things that causes it can also be the symptoms, such as the lack of sleep, the loss of the appetite, the sudden changes of moods, the need of crying even when you, or they, watch a movie or the lack of communication. All these things are just the beginning. Untreated depression can lead to other things more serious, such as anxiety crises, claustrophobia, uncontrolled violence of any kind and even suicidal tendencies. As you can see, it is pretty serious. The good news is however, that it can be treated. A depressed person will hardly admit that he or she has this illness. They associate this diagnostic with craziness. You cannot bring someone to the doctor against his will, but in such situations the best approach is love. If depressed people are allowed to see that you love them and not that you consider them crazy they will agree to do something to make things as they were in the past. They are not bad persons. They are just in a very big psychological pain. Once they will understand that and once they receive the treatment needed they will start to recover themselves. Some forms of depression can be treated only with psychological therapy. Others, more advanced forms, may also need medication. It will not be easy. Depression does not install in someone brain over night. This means that the persons affected may need allot of patience and time to recover. Nothing in this life happens over night and you should completely forget about the phrase '' this will never happen to me''. Nobody is immune at this disease and you never know how your perfect life can turn at 180 degrees just like that. With all these things being said, don't forget to live and help others regain their will of living. Source: https://tipshire.com/depression-the-century-enemy/ |
