I am sorry to use the word nagging, but my dad has been nagging too much of recent. I have six siblings, I'm the last son and 3rd child. After my youth service, I decided to learn tailoring while still looking for a job. Now i've opened my own, have upto three apprentices and I thank God i'm making a fortune out of it. But my worry is my dad's attitude. He always complain that i made him to waste millions of Naira training me in school. He always compare me to my mates that entered into business immediately after secondary school that they have car and house. I'm not staying with him but my Mum used to tell me everything. He normally say all these things anytime he's angry. That if not for my sister's husband that used to bring things for them that he would have regretted giving birth to us. Please how do i make him to beleive that all hope is not lost. I really love him and wish to make him happy but he is not patience enough. He wants it now or never. I used to send him the little i've once in a while though i know it's not enough but i won't steal nah. Sorry for the long write up.

Visit him and talk with him like dad to son so he'll understand how things are with you.
Besides most times money isn't everything, your presence might just be all he needs. Make out time every month maybe to hangout with him.
...
All the best.

Why are you killing yourself over what is not? You aren't even living in his house any longer so why the worry?

This isn't an issue as far as I am concerned. At least you are better than 10000jobless graduates out there who have nothing yet to do

cry

Visit him from time to time, talk to him and assure him that you are pushing hard, if possible tell him about the outcome of all your interviews, exaggerate your hopes in them and let him be expectant...

God will validate your exaggerated hopes and you'll be surprise...

Your Mum no dey try at all...She is not meant to be disclosing such to you. Well, Thank Goodness you are successful where you are, Rome was not built one day same is applicable to most of the top designers. I will advice you see his words as challenge to work harder, ignore his rants and focus on your dreams. God bless your legit hustle. smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley

Wow! One man's meat is really another's man poison.
My dad made sure everyone of us learnt handworks during /after school VERY IMPORTANT and i'll do the same for my kids honestly I know how much my sister makes from her decoration/bridal gowns/catering business .it's waaaay more than my salary .

Just keep doing your thing ,make sure you help when you can and don't quarrel with him. He's still your father at the end of the day.

I realized when our parents talk about reaping the fruits of labour, what comes into our mind is always financial aspect, that's actually wrong.

You can visit him often as time permits and hang out with him
Buy him fruits and enjoy it together why you both talk like father and son
You can help with his cloths, wash and iron
You can help him massage his legs and ankle with balm and some other fitness stuff
You can decide to cook him a good meal, not perfect but he will appreciate
You can sew a matching dress for both of you and take selfies

What your father needs is a more son and father time not money, as long as he can see you are happy and proactive, he will be satisfied since it's your life anyway

Just see the nagging that he wants you to succeed. The prayer of every father is that their kids should do better than them.

He spent money in the course of your education and may feel he wasted the money 'cause you're not in your field but tailoring. You can't blame the old man for thinking that way.

You said thank God you're making a fortune from your tailoring. How well do you appreciate your father?. I don't mean buying him small gifts and feeling he'd understand.

The man wants what's best for you, and you should stop being angry at him 'cause he remains your father.

He is a Nigerian dad therefore got the mentality that after training u guys, you people will inturn train him... But he was disappointed.. U even mentioned that it was your sister's husband that visits and gives them things during his visitation

Having read what i have analyzed, I hope u are intelligent enough to know the next step to take
