My child sat for this year' FGC/NCEE and was shortlisted for consideration and later given admission but not to the school of choice rather somewhere too far for her. However, on her admission status they wrote National Merit.

I do not understand what national merit means for this category of exam; any educationists in-house who know what this means should please educate me.
