Today again, we decided to let our silence speak,
praying that tomorrow our voice would be heard in its peak.
It really isn’t our fault, we have been taught brilliantly to be cowards
Shut up! Keep quiet! What do you know! Go and apologise afterwards
after all, you’re just a child and compared to an adult, a child is never right.
So we bury it, the weapons in our voice and protest only in tears all through the night
But who is an adult? so that we may one day become,
Maybe it’s time that makes you one, many say age but for others, a steady income.
Time may make a man grow in size,
with no guarantee of a mental rise.
Age, has always been the winner of the race in the womb
No wonder many become quickly forgotten in their tomb.
Income, which is money has never been a faithful friend to many
and to keep her, one may lose a soul and become a zany.
It’s hilarious to know that we still pride ourselves as adults,
We who allow time, age and income, blind us from all our faults.
Adults who speak in silence when wronged by their brethren,
but yell in fury when the same is done by their children.
Adults who are governed by ignorance and fear,
Not knowing how powerful the weapon of a voice is to an ear.
Stop teaching a child to cage his voice,
for without it you’ve taken away his choice.
If truly the young shall grow, then they shall grow into what?
this one big question should be a food for thought.
Yes! Silence may be golden but just like gold, it should be kept to be used occasionally
Let the voice in a child flourish, let it be watered normally.
Time, age and income is not enough to make one an adult,
In fact it has been an excuse to make others endure insults
Who then is an adult?
A person that speaks in the face of violence, oppression and injustice
One who is willing to teach others and help them truly to practice.
Knowing that bullets may hit the body but only a voice can touch the soul
Yes! That’s an adult and that should always be the role.
Time, age and income are nothing but formalities,
Coined by ignorance to limit our thinking and reasoning abilities.
Therefore tonight let us sleep away the ignorance, mistakes and regrets,
that has prevented us from loving our weapons of words like pets.
Never again shall we hide as coward under the veil of silence
Our voices must be heard and given great essence.
For we are the children who have refused to be silenced.

When we allow the voice in our kids to be expressed, we will be better off as a country
Allowing our children read their preferred courses, marry their preferred wives and develop their preferred talents
When we do not silent that still voices
When we support them
We will be live long knowing that they are set in the path of greatness
