This thread is in response to this thread "Why Was There Little Call For Biafra When Jonathan Was In Power?". Here is an evidence below of nearly half a million people with Nnamdi Kanu in Aba in honor of Biafra fallen heroes and heroines on May 30th, 2015 while Jonathan was in power. This evidence nullifies that thread. So since Mod pushed that thread to front page without evidence, I'd appreciate it if they would push this counter thread WITH EVIDENCE to front page. Let's make Nairaland a judicious and fact-based forum devoid of propaganda.
IPOB May 30th, 2015 while Jonathan was still in power. The movement has been going on under GEJ except he used wisdom, meaning he IGNORED HIM.

Jonathan handed over power on the 29th of May, 2015. Nigerians are always quick to react instead thinking critically to confirm the authenticity of the facts and figures.
Interesting... LIST OF MINIMUM WAGES BY COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD. 1. Nigeria - $38 (N18,000). 2. Algeria - $175 (N83,000). 3. Belgium - $1,738 (N810,000). 4. Cameroun - 36, 270CFA ($75) N38,000. 5. Chad - $120 (N60,000). 6. Denmark - $1,820 (N900,000). 7. Libya - $430 (N190,000). 8. Japan - $1000 (N450,000). 9. Cote D'ivoire -36,607CFA $72. 10. New Zealand -$3,187 (N1.4m). 11. Luxemburg - $2,500 (N1.1m). 12. Spain - $760. (N300,000). 13. Switzerland - $5,620 - N2.5m. 14. USA - $11 per hour. Ironically, Nigeria politicians earn the highest salaries the whole world. In Luxemburg where minimum wage is $2,500, their lawmakers are paid $7,400. In Libya where minimum wage is $430, law-makers earn $3000. In Nigeria where minimum wage is $38 (N18,000), law-makers earn $65,000 (N29m). How long will this continue # Forwarded as Copied#

We all know the noise is not this much under gej than it is now.
And thos claiming its because buhari arrested kanu.
This is what jonathan did to massob leaders and biafran war veterans after locking them up for 80 days. I don't see igbos crying biafra or death every day then.
LOL. The story has changed from "he was not doing this during GEJ's time" to "well, he was, but not as much". Smh.
MASSOB had little support from the Igbos because 1, They were violent and 2. Uwazulrike had built up mansions and was rumoured to be conniving with the government.
Kanu had none of that. Please blame the government 100%. You do not jail people with ideological pursuits that resonate with the masses; never, ever. It has not worked in the past and it won't work now. You either ignore them or negotiate with them.
the rally was in 30th of May 2015 while Jonathan handed over power on 29th of May 2015...OP plz find another lie... radio biafura became so loud as soon as Jonathan lost the election...within the three before hand over massive propaganda was going on...
obailala: If the rally in the video you posted occured on May 30th 2015, how exactly does it nullify the other thread?... As at May 30th, it was already two (2) months after GEJ lost the election and it was even a day after Buhari was sworn in to the disappointment of millions of GEJ supporters. So I ask again, what exactly does this thread or this video nullify?... A video of an Nnamdi Kanu rally prior to the 2015 election should have made more sense.
And then again, stop deceiving yourself with this empty "Jonathan ignored ipob statement," NO leader (not even a weak Jonathan) will sit back and fold his arms watching while anybody tries to divide the kingdom he rules; even Kanu rejected a Biafra without Benue and Rivers state
Under Jonathan's leadership, several members of MASSOB were arrested and some even killed (Ezu River massacre) and nobody gave a damn about it. The head of the Biafran zionist movement (Chief Ben Onwuka) who declared Biafra during Jonathan's reign was also arrested, locked up and the key thrown away for several months without any trial and that happened under the government of GEJ. See picture of how the zionists were humiliated below: www.nairaland.com/attachments/5913315_paradedbiafraarmy2_jpegd2eedd3b0ec60dbf967c05d184ed69b3
The simple reason Jonathan did not arrest Kanu was because during Jonathan's time, Kanu was a nobody who was based in the UK making noise to his very insignificant audience, nobody took him serious then. How many people knew Kanu before April 1st 2015? Did YOU even know him yourself?... and how exactly was Jonathan meant to arrest an 'unknown' person living in far away the UK?
People started paying attention and following Kanu only after GEJ lost the election because Kanu at the time seemed to be the only alternative left for millions of disgruntled Jonathan supporters from the south east who could clearly smell the potential political consequences of the poor politics played by the Igbo nation in 2015. 99% of IPOb and Kanu supporters today only declared support for Kanu/IPOB after the 2015 elections. This is a fact that cannot be wished away, everything about the explosion of IPOb is deeply rooted in politics of 2015. But unfortunately, Buhari with his actions and inactions keep lending validity to the ipob distractions.
obailala: Well, Kanu didnt exactly start the secessionist campaings in 2015, he actually started sometime in late 2013 and was even interviewed by Sahara Reporters sometume un early 2014. But until the 2015 elections, he was largely unknown, unpopular, disregarded and even considered to be insane by all; same way in which the folks of MASSOB were also disregarded as old hungry folks by all.
The results of 2015 elections however changed the game for Kanu. With the disappointment, frustration and anger of Jonathan loosing the elections, a lot of people began to renounce their Nigerianness; and automatically, Kanu's previously disregarded weird ideologies and wild preachings suddenly started sounding like a heavenly gospel music... The anger reached a peak in May 29th 2015 after Buhari was officially sworn-in; Kanu himself as a bad sharp opportunist took the pains to visit Nigeria personally on the May 30th Biafra remembrance day celebration and was greeted with a hero's welcome by a crowd who began to see him as the only alternative to a Buhari presidency which they had rejected.
There's a video of KANU from 2014 protesting against the Nigerian government's inability to stop Boko Haram as a patriotic, concerned citizen.

The difference is simple
Kanu had little support during GEJ
But enjoying huge financial sponsorship in this Buhari regime
We all know the noise is not this much under gej than it is now.
