18 Things That Happen To Your Body When Your Heart Is Broken. by Nobody: 6:58pm On Sep 07, 2017
We have to be careful with our hearts and pay close attention to the people we are letting in. While heartbreak has lots of effects on our emotions and mental well-being it can also affect you physically. You know this to be true if you have ever been through any kind of heartbreak.
Below you will find a list of the things heartbreak can do to you. Some of these things are a lot worse than the other things but in the end, they all leave you feeling quite miserable. Be careful with your heart.
These are the things that happen to You when your Heart is Broken:

1. You Question Everything
You will constantly be worrying about whether there is something you could have changed or something you could have done to prevent things from happening the way that they did. This is normal! We all grieve in our own ways, and this is one of those ways. With that being said, this is a good time for you to spend on self-care. Don’t let yourself get too carried away with self-questioning. There is nothing you could have done to make him or her stay.

2. You Feel Actual Pain
You will feel pain in your chest and other parts of your body. While it may sound dramatic to some people this is really something that happens. Your brain recognizes intense emotional pain and believes that you are in physical pain because of it. This works in a similar way to how we get migraines when we are overstressed. Your body is making you more aware of the turmoil in your mind.

3. You Get Cramps
Your body will become more aware of aches and pains than normal. This is because your emotional pain is at such a high level, however, this is something that will pass in time.

4. You Might Even Get Sick
Yes, being heartbroken can even affect your immune system. It makes you vulnerable to viruses and such. When going through a heartbreak you may want to eat healthily and drink lots of water in an attempt to help promote immune health.

5. You Might Lose Some Hair
Yeah, you may have noticed in some movies when the protagonist is stressed/upset they start to lose their hair. Unfortunately, that is not something that only happens in the movies, it actually happens in real life. Our bodies react to stress in different ways so you may or may not experience hair loss.

6. Your Period is Delayed
Your emotions are all kinds of messed up and this can affect everything. Your body’s biological clock will be extremely out of whack. When this happens relaxing is the most important thing you can do.

7. You Go Through Withdrawal
Because you have become reliant on having this person in your life you will feel out of place. If you are one attached to your partner it is only normal to miss them. If you are one of those people who spend their time while heartbroken looking through the photos of your now non-existent relationship, STOP.

8. You Get Lonely
You will feel lonely no matter where you are or who you are with because you want this person to be in your life more than anything. The end of a relationship is very hard, loneliness is much more than just being alone. You can be in a room full of people and still feel like something is missing.

9. You Get Overstressed
You find that your levels of stress have made their way through the roof. You will have a lot of things to figure out on your own now. For instance, if you relied on your significant other for something you must find new means now.

10. Your Eating Habits Change
You either can’t eat or decide to over embrace junk food and things of the sort. In my experience, I get sick to my stomach and even the thought of food is enough to make me want to hurl. If you are one of those people who have an appetite increase, pay attention to what you are putting into your body. (And if you are like me and can’t eat still try to eat what you can.)

11. You Become Depressed
Feelings of sadness and overall numbness can and usually do occur. You will feel as if your whole world has been torn out from under you. Be aware of your emotions.

12. Everything Feels Unreal
You might not even be able to pass this person in public without feeling your heart tear out all over again. It is hard to go from holding hands to not even meeting eyes when you cross paths. If you are someone who can remain friends with your exes you are a stronger person than I am.

13. You Develop Mixed Thoughts
You become confused on the inside. I for one seem to misplace things a lot more often when I am overly upset. The more worked up I get the more confusion that comes.

14. Your Heart Slows
Some people experience actual chest pain when they go through heartbreak. This is because when you go through heartbreak your muscles within the heart can literally be weakened. If you are experiencing a lot of chest pain a doctor visit is not a bad idea.

15. Your Sleeping Patterns Change
Some people can’t wake up and others cannot go to sleep. I for one, when heartbroken stay up unable to sleep, and then, when I fall asleep finally I can’t force myself up. It is a constant struggle.

16. You Become More Sensitive
You are like a ticking time bomb, even the smallest thing can set you off. You just don’t react to things the same. This is because of the emotional buildup.

17. You Feel The Need to Be Alone
You literally don’t want to even leave your room. You are physically exhausted and cannot force yourself up.

18. Your Immune System Can Become Weak
Stress weakens the immune system as well as the body. This makes you more susceptible to diseases and infections.
