Equity Market Gains 1.42%, Sustains Yesterdays Uptrend by Nobody: 12:16pm On Sep 08, 2017
The equity market on Thursday posted a gain of 1.42%, to sustain yesterdays uptrend. However, market breadth closed negative, recording 19 gainers against 22 losers.
In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) gained 503.30 absolute points, representing a growth of 1.42% to close at 36,112.37 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization gained N174.79 billion, representing a growth of 1.42% to close at N12.45 trillion.
The Upturn was impacted by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; GUINNESS (+10.23%),
DANGCEM (+4.73%),
STANBIC (+3.88%),
FLOURMILL (+3.45%),
DANGSUGAR (+3.45%),
WAPCO (+1.33%),
NB (+0.77%) and GTB (+0.08%).

Foreign Exchange
The Naira at the inter-bank (official) market closed at N305.95 against the US Dollar, representing a marginal decline against previous close. The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N358.97, traded high at N363.00 and eventually closed at N359.70. A total of $100.33 million was transacted.
We expect the FX market to trade within existing range in the next session.

Money Market
OBB and O/N rates closed at an average of 8.83% and 9.33%, representing a downtrend from previous closing /position of 10.33% and 11.00% respectively.
We expect money market to trade with existing volatility in the next session.
