Stoke City bos Mark Hughes says he pushed anchester United boss Jose Mourinho after the former Chelsea coach encroached his technical area.

Both managers refused to shake hands after their teams played out a 2-2 draw at Stoke. However, Hughes insists he was not upset by Mourinho’s refusal to shake hands.

“I am not sure why he didn’t want to shake my hand. I didn’t think there were any issues. There was a time when he came into my technical box and I told him to get out. Maybe it was that what upset him. Sometimes managers don’t take negative results too kindly.

“I prefer not to answer questions about handshakes,” said Mourinho. “It is a bad question, it makes it look like it is my fault but that’s not right.” said Hughes whose side halted Mourinho’s 100% start to the new Premier League campaign at the Britannia on Saturday.

Mourinho’ Manchester United host FC Basel in their Champions League opener on Tuesday before facing Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday. Stoke meanwhile travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle in the league on Saturday.
