Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of education, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari to avoid making the mistake of ostracising the entire Igbo ethnic group over the agitations of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Reacting to the military’s Operation Python Dance in the south-east region and the present state of unease in Abia, Ezekwesili said Buhari as a leader “must build a bond” with all his people.

She said all the people in the north can’t be categorised as Boko Haram insurgents, and as such, the people of the south-east do not deserve to be treated as “incendiary agitators”.

Ezekwesili, co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls group, said it is unbecoming of a leader to “send signals” that he abhors a group of people under his leadership.

In a series of tweets directed at Buhari, she said: “Do not alienate the entire Igbo ethnic group cos of a few that govt can use appropriate mechanisms to respond to any misconduct.

“All people of north-east Nigeria are not equal to Boko Haram. All people of south-east Nigeria cannot be equal to incendiary agitators.

“The leader of a country cannot be friends only of those he/she likes. No. That is not leadership. The leader builds up groups. Not divide.

“You cannot lead only those that worship and swear by you. You are the leader. You must carry the burden even of those that detest you.

“It the lowliest form of churlishness that is unbecoming of a leader to send signals that you dislike anyone of the groups you lead.

“A real leader does not suffer from the destructive disease of ethnic prejudice. It endangers his/her people & real leaders cannot bear such.”

I am tired of seeing foolish post like this. I thought Ipob is made up of only illiterates who doesn't know how to read and write but I am seeing otherwise here on Nairaland which is very bad. Leave Hausa and Yoruba but condemned Nnamdi KANU because what is doing is very bad. since Monday this unrest started he is inside his mansion eating comfortably while some are dying on his behalf, to what end? I never know that Igbo enwe Eze can turn to be zombies, if you prophesied this for me last three years, I won't believe you. Nnamdi is throwing southeast region to anarchy while other regions are progressing. today in Aba you can't go to work or market because of one albino in afara. Buhari is a politician and wont even care if he losses 5 battalion just to make sure his order must uphold in southeast and Nigeria army is to big to be troubled by any group not even a combination of bokoharam and mend. It's also wrong to beg Buhari not to alienate any particular ethnic group.
It's his duty to run an inclusive administration.
It's his duty to run a government that is non discriminatory in appointments.
It's his duty to run a government that melts out equal justice to all and ensures all government agencies do same.
Doing all the above is not what he does at his own whims and caprice or as if you are doing any body or ethnic group a favor.
His inability to do the above is rather his own loss and that of his government,which is � � manifesting in his overall shoddy performance.
He owes all ethnic nationalities a constitutional duty and not nationalities needing any favour from him.
