The most expensive component is the 5.8” OLED panel manufactured by Samsung. It’s price is $80 per unit which is way higher than any other part.

The NAND memory, acquired from Toshiba is $45 for 256 GB.

The 3 GB RAM is half - only $24.

Apple announced the A11 Bionic chipset, which is built by TSMC on their 10 nm process technology. One chipset costs $26 while the modem that is plastered on it is provided by Qualcomm and is $18 more.

The 3D sensor is also in the expensive category - it is $25. It is packed behind the glass on the front panel which is another $18.

The logistics and few production costs aren't included here though.

Recall that the iPhone X (iPhone 10) costs about $1000 (N400,000). So do you think that Apple is making huge profits from their devices?

You pay for VAT to countries where those parts
Are ordered from and also for Assembly.

Though in all honesty the 1000$ price tag cannot be justified, the fact remains that the iPhone X, is not worth 1000 USD. Maybe 500- 600 USD .



The Samsung S8 is miles ahead of the iPhone X,so for me it's not worth it.

Guy wise up. I won't advice you to get a phone of that price without a warranty in the country of usage. I know of Samsung outlets that sells S8 less than 245k with warranty. Most premium phones being sold online were brought in from another country hence no warranty. I know of a guy that broke the screen of his S8 after which the board went dead, ideally the board should not cost him to replace but na UK phone so double wàhálà.

Secondly, iPhone 8 isn't released yet. Fluidity is yet to be tested
AR isn't there yet but iPhone X supports ARKit while S8 supports ARCore

It's 300,000 naira on Konga!

If you have no friend coming in, you pay sellers for importation charges

Even now, S7 edge and S8 is still having the same price tag. I guess the sharp reduction in S8 and S8+ is just to sell as many as possible before the release of iphone. More so FX is lesser than this same time last year.
