I knew this IPOB people were smart the day I noticed some on twitter trying to draw the attention of American Evangelicals(many are supporters of Trump).

The Evangelicals are still the main reason why it is almost impossible to pass a resolution against Isreal at the UNSC. They are an highly influential band of Christians who use their influence to shapen America's foreign and domestic policies.

They form the core of America's right or GOP base. Meaning they are not a group to toy with in USA. In gaining the full support of the Evangelicals, Trump picked Pence another Core Evangelical Christian as running mate.

If you think Nigeria's Christians are extreme then you have not met America's evangelicals.

Trump now sees things through religious lenses as he was massively voted by Evangelicals during the last US elections. They are usually at the forefront of campaigns against Homosexual marriages , Abortions and are heavy supporters of Isreal. They also don't like Muslims or Islam.

Now Evangelicals don't usually get involved in African politics but a Muslim Northern Nigeria vs a Christian Biafran themed conflict is too much a temptation for the Evangelicals to resist.

America's current president is an unconventional one and can easily maneuver long standing US policies without any strategic reason or fear for political consequence. People say Trump is unpredictable but Trump is actually highly predictable. He seeks almost instant gratification from his White, Christian base. If IPOB successfully draws the attention of the Evangelicals and Spin this crisis into a Christian vs Muslim debate it would instantly put Trump in support of the Biafran cause since most Igbos are Christians.

One may ask if the US never supported Biafra in 1967 why would they do so in 2017? Well ask the typical American Evangelical if they know the meaning of Biafra and you would discover they don't. Meaning that in 1967 when the civil war broke out the US had a clear cut foreign policy stance on Biafra even before news of the Civil war broke in the West. The mainstream media largely controlled the information space and the Christian vs Muslim sentiments wasn't echoed or at least enough.

Today IPOB can boycott main stream media to deliver their message via social media. If that is successful and they manage to enlist the support of USA, a member of the UNSC then Nigeria's trouble just began!
