Anyone know exactly where Equiano originated? I know some people say he was from somewhere deep in Anambra but I've recently come across something stating he's from Ashaka Village (Ndokwa/Ukwuani territory).

What do we think? Present-day Anioma or Anambra Igbo?

It's most definitely not in Anioma because Olaudah himself left strong tales of his journeys to indicate that he clearly was kidnapped from the east of the Niger, not west of the Niger. People claiming Ashaka in Anioma are overlooking more supporting details Olaudah left and are choosing to focus only on name similarity. This shouldn't even be open to debate.

But I thought I read somewhere some time ago where Olaudah stated he came from a village in present day Anioma,Delta state, quite close to Benin.

Isseke don't kill Python as well and Benin is not too far from isseke. Your own isseke is a small village in alor town but the other isseke is a big town of its own under ihiala local government.
