I prefer someone like retired Gen Martin Luther Agwai instead of Danjuma. He is also from north central (if I'm not mistaken). His past is not bad like Danjumas. For a civilian president, Jonathan needs someone who believes in civilian authority over the military. Danjuma and Obasanjo belong to the same era. Jonathan should be very smart in dealing with Danjuma -a green snake in a green grass! . . And he must never smell VP position at all. . . . even for a day. |

Onlytruth:clusters of politicians in pdp are retired generals or with military-affiliation. |

Re: Jonathan Appoints New Advisers Headed By Gen Danjuma by kobikwelu(m): 6:08pm On Mar 02, 2010 |
guys lets be realistic goodluck needed somebody from the north who could neutralize the influence of the north (balance of power) danjuma in my view is the only person with that influence who is not tainted by the cabals. but to be sincere, who else is a person of stature from the middle belt who can wield such influence especially against the core north. some of the name that u guys are putting foward are relatively unknowns. and lets face it, this is politics .he needs a strong hand that can gravitate some of the nothern elements towards his side. smart move. whether the move would be one he would regret in the future, i cant tell. but for now its a wise decision, as goodluck has started deflating the sails of the northern cabal |

kobikwelu: This "Cabal" has not been fully unmasked, so I would be careful dissociating Danjuma from this mystical cabal. Like I pointed out before, retired Gen Martin Luther Agwai is a man with good credentials and he is from southern Kaduna (unless I'm mistaken). He was once Army chief of staff and later chief of defense staff before going to head the UN mission in Dafur Sudan. So, he has local and international experience. Danjuma is a local coupist who killed his family friend for power. I wouldn't trust his words much if I want to survive in power 'cos he can go for my seat! |

Onlytruth:i like the sound of agwai, but we only know him as a soldier. . .nothing more. . .no clues as to how he'd perform! |

The problem with these politicians is that they appear to "start off well", but derail along the line.Lets see how this arrangement goes.Seems like GJ would run this Government like a "transitional" one. |

Very strange! So, what is supposed to be the purpose for which this people were empanelled? I’ll be pleasantly surprised if anything substantive comes out of the Ag. Presidency of Dr. Jonathan. Yes, most of the panels are recycle politicians who has bestrode our politics for generation but that is not the reason for my skepticism because experience itself has its value. What is disappointing are the tasks assigned to the panel. If the panel is only political, that will be okay with me as politics requires no technical knowledge. But, among others, to assist the Ag. President in tackling power problems? Wao! With due respect to the office of the Ag. President, if he wants to tackle power problems, he should empanel technical people that will include people who can assess the reasons for the current inefficiency, repeated failures of past efforts and, proffer solutions. In fact, I think we have reached a point where we need experts, the very best; wherever they may exist in the world. It is by far cheaper to pay now for services that will ultimately have multiplying effects on our economy than to continue this embarrassing game of yearly missed targets for a technology that has been perfected for more than one hundred years. Just getting this old people together is a jamboree that suggests playing to the gallery than actually taking the bull by the horn and, getting us somewhere positive. I hope that the Ag. President purpose is indeed political and, that this is a decoy to assuage those he must pander to if he want to keep his post. If that is the reason, as diabolical as it sounds, I understand it. The nations debt was paid (yes, with some forgiveness by the lender) and, we had 50+ billion USD in reserves. That was during the 8 year period of President Obasanjo. In life, most people prefer to have their ego boasted without regards to results. No wonder, spectacular success is an exception. I have my qualms with OBJ, for instance, he was not committed to ethical elections and, that is a serious derelictions’ of his duties because the end never justifies the means. I am sure there are many others. But, if you must condemn the man please, provide reasons that can withstand intellectual rigor instead of just repeating what other says in thoughtless acts that are full of tented characters. I think we all recall the National Assembly panel on power two years ago whose member turn out to be more corrupt that the persons been criticized . |

If Oga Jonathan can be smart and prayerful, God who took him die far will not let him down. Lets pray for him. Its a game he must play and cannot totally assume he can do it alone, else, he is out |

riversman:What has he stolen from you? FYI, Kase is an Ibadan-born, US-based oil magnate. On the list, I think it's OK. The inclusion of TY may be controversial but I think he's not a bad choice, at least he'll put Obj at check. I'm also satisfied with the inclusion of technocrats in the think tank, rather than career politicians. Wow, my Fola Adeola is there! Basil Omiyi is another fine fellow, with vast inteernational and local business experience, second only to Kase Lawal. Altogether, it's not a bad list, and if given free hands, shoud dbe able to make valauble input to GJ's acting-presidency. |

Re: Jonathan Appoints New Advisers Headed By Gen Danjuma by houvest: 2:23pm On Mar 03, 2010 |
@ Beaf I agree with you about the need for younger and more credible northerners like Rufai,et al. But what actualy is the job description of this new cabal? Just advisory? Or are we exchanging one cabal for another? Again I thought TYD was said to be mentally challenged. We are just coming out of a crisis caused by a health challenge, why court another? Blimey. We have I50 million Nigerians. If the matter is that of military sagacity, Umar is still alive and well as are many other credible and sagacious retired northern soldiers. TYD may turn out to be a bad move by GJ and a bad news for the Nation. I don't see him at all as Caeser's wife as some posters are making him out to appear here. |

Utter nonsense, do you know what a dog Retired gen martin luther agwai is?!?!?!?!? If he is appointed in any position, he will use it only to play with innocent women. What has he done for the country being chief of defence staff. Created handsome property, which will last for generations. Has anyone ever thought how a government servant like him owns a multimillion dollar worth apartment in Manhattan, New York? Has anyone thought how did he acquire such huge land and so many properties all over the Nigeria, which is visible, do not forget about other hidden wealth he created. Did you ever think where from did he get all this? |

This is a good firm decision on governance.I welcome this as a nationally based policy implementation by the present administration of Johnathan Goodluck.Doubts are now cleared and the voice of Nigerians craving for peace , smooth running of government and dividends of democracy to Nigerian are now realisable. God Bless Nigeria. KBJOJO |
