Yar’adua: Ribadu, 45 Others Form Shadow Parliament by Nobody: 10:36am On Mar 02, 2010
Worried about the political situation in the
country, the former chairman of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and 45 other Nigerians
based in the United States have decided to
form a shadow parliament.
A shadow government is usually formed by
a group of opposition figures who can take
parliamentary decisions if they were to be in
power.
In a statement in New York, members of the
proposed shadow parliament said that the
nation ’s elected officers had betrayed public
trust and Nigerians had “lost hope in a
country that was once so promising.”
They also added that the ‘Nigeria Peoples
Parliament,’ would address the myriad of
issues plaguing the country and provide the
platform upon which to demonstrate to
Nigerian public office-holders how the
business of governance should be
conducted.
According to the statement, the NPP will
convene its maiden deliberation on March 13
at the Laguardia Marriot Hotel, New York
from noon to 6pm, with standard
parliamentary procedures and an open
format where Members of Parliament would
discuss issues within an allotted time.
The speaker of the Parliament, Dr. Okey
Ndibe, will “preside and put before the House
the standing orders to be adopted,” it said.
The proceedings will also witness elections
into the office of the Clerk, Whip, among
others.
Other members of the shadow parliament
include Dr. Nimi Wariboko, Mr. Lanre Banjo,
Mr. Sonala Olumhense, Professor Mobolaji
Aluko, Mr. Omoyele Sowore and Dr. Segun
Dawodu.

The best thing is starting to happen to NIgeria. Those people are showing that there are good Nigerians that the system will not allow to show up and work with.

Where are the oppostions in Nigeria with all that has been happening nearly 100days of YAR A'CLUELESS saga.

Now, the good people in Nigeria, Pat utomi, Wole Syinka , Tunde Bakare, al their voices are drown by the vocal minority cabal.

When you have a failed govt and system, a shadow government is the one you used to teach fools how to do things properly.

I think not only Yar A'failure need to be impeached for future preedent but also all his aides and wife must be supboena to give evidence of their roll. They are the people who are committing treason. They are th one that ordered the Army in the middle of Night, in a dark hour at our International Airport.

They could collaborated with outside forces or enemies to attcak Nigeria, and they have certainly exposed our security weakness or lack of it.

I am only supporting Jonathan simply because of RULE OF LAW and adherene to the constitutio the way Ken NNamani was supported when he move to disagree with Term elongation by OBJ

The issues is about the law, our constitution and Nigeria that is greater than any individual or group. Until the Law is changed we should all adhere strictly with it to bring order and sanity to the country.

I have always advocate SHADOW GOVERNMENT TO MY PALS IN THE DIASPORA. It is easy to read Nigeria from a distance and act without emotions of Oga, rankadede, nna or threat of bullying or physical attck, assasination or juju minded people etc.

NIGERIA: great country, good people, yeye government. grin grin grin

Who called this nonsense.Nigeria is walking in d path of a failed state thus there is need for a shadow govt. The Yara'fool saga had exposed the weakness of Nigeria as a state.Turai and all Yar'adua aides should be prosecuted for the roles they played in this political mess.
