I have never ingested Marijuana, so I don't know.

What I do know, is that there are some herbs, mixtures and substances that can increase psychic abilities, including opening what you call the third eye. BUT such are usually to be taken under the strict control of advanced practitioners, and never for recreation purposes.

The reason for this control aspect is that of self deceit and illusion. You may end up creating a world of your own, a delusion, and believe you are experiencing the real thing. So control and objectivity are paramount to any one seeking real spiritual progress, and not mere illusion.

Moreoever, grounding is another crucial aspect there. A practitioner using psychedelics with no strict (preferably external) control, runs the risk of not being properly grounded, and end up in a world of his own. The highly gifted Aleister Crowley comes to my mind.

My personal recommendation to those with-out a proper and structured order is to avoid these. There are better methods out there.
