Breaking:doctors Suspend 7-day Warning Strike In Osun by Nkemakonam62: 2:40am On Sep 27, 2017 |
Osun Chapter of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has directed members working with the state government to resume work, after a seven-day warning strike, over salary arrears and poor working condition. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the doctors began the strike on September 18, 2017. The directive for resumption of work was contained in a communiqué jointly signed by the NMA Chairman, Dr. Tokunbo Olajumoke and Secretary, Olalekan Ajayi. Osun NMA said the strike was suspended due to the intervention of well-meaning stakeholders, who assured the association that the state government would address their grievances. The association said the strike became necessary because of the poor condition of facilities in state hospitals and poor welfare. Meanwhile, the state government has described the attack on its Commissioner for Regional Integration, Bola Ilori, in Akure, Ondo State as barbaric, reprehensible and an assault on the sovereignty of the state. Ilori was part of the delegation that presented Osun’s position at the All Progressives Congress (APC) public forum on true federalism and restructuring in its mission to get views of the people of Ekiti, Ondo and Osun states. Media Adviser to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Sola Fasure, in a statement, said the attack on Ilori, by some hoodlums was reported to have been political motivated and sponsored by a top-ranking Ondo State Government cabinet member. Fasure noted that the attack was indirectly meted on Osun state that Ilori represented at the programme and called on the law enforcement agencies to fish out and bring to book perpetrators of the attack, no matter how powerful the sponsors could be. He also wondered whether the comment of Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Yemi Olowolabi, that the Osun delegate was the aggressor who had come to the venue of the event to cause trouble, was diplomatic enough. The statement noted that such remarks could cause disaffection between the two sister states, which have lived without any rancour towards each other for years since the creation of both states. http://www.akelicious.com/2017/09/breakingdoctors-suspend-7-day-warning.html 1 Like

When is the full strike commencing? Their job is to kill government owned institutions so that their private practice can thrive. Continue 4 Likes 1 Share |

coolcharm: Do you work without being paid a salary? What is the governor doing with all the money received that he is owing salaries for 22 months? These are the questions sensible people will ask. Please try to also ask these type of questions. 9 Likes 1 Share |

In a saner clime Doctors & lecturers are not supposed to go on strike for whatever reasons, but in Nigeria it's a different story entirely. The latter has been a consistent striker like Ronaldo in the champions league. 1 Like |

Robisky001: Danty37: in saner climates, they dont owe salaries for 22 months. Almost 2 years?? Are you posters well at all? Look at it this way, you work for 22 months and not paid, how then do you even fuel your car to work, or pay your children's school fees, house rent or even get breakfast to work? Is it not absurd to say they shouldnt strike? Are you not the selfish ones to say they shouldnt have their wages while you have your health?? 2 Likes 1 Share |

daveemuobo:I'm not in anyway against them going for strike. I'm invariably accusing the government for not doing anything to forestall the impending strike. |

daveemuobo: Yeye people Instead of fighting the politicians they are insulting doctors. I wonder how some Nigerians think/reason. So they expect doctors to work for free? What's it with the beef on doctors sef? Many filling stations have manipulated pumps, they won't shout. Doctors strike for their rights, you see them wailing. Sense should please fall on such people. I have been in the operation room several times and lights went off. The surgical team had to put on lights on their android phones to complete the procedure. You can't imagine a doctor going the extra mile to keep a patient alive and that same patient wakes and join those insulting doctors. I pray the foolish will be wise as soon as possible. Infact I am angry Nigerians, read and think before you vociferate your thoughts. God bless Nigeria. 2 Likes |
