We’re not aware of luxury bus attack —FRSC by CyberG: 7:27am On Mar 05, 2010
THE Federal Road Safety Commission on Thursday said its officials were not informed about last week’s accident on Benin-Sagamu expressway which reportedly claimed the lives of many passengers on February 25, as alleged by the Senate on Wednesday.

In a statement sent by e-mail by the commission’s Deputy Corps Commander, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, the FRSC said the incident was neither reported by its patrol team nor at its headquarters.

The FRSC said the only incident resembling the one discussed by the Senate, was the one that occurred on August 1, 2009 along Shagamu –Ijebu-Ode road by Backcock University junction in Ogun State at about 10.30pm.

The statement explained that it was an armed robbery attack on a ‘Young Shall Grow’ luxury bus with registration number XF285AKD.

According to the report, “While the passengers were being robbed, they were ordered to lie down on the road by the robbers.”

The Nigerian Police is totally clueless and cannot protect anything except their pocket as presently constituted. Nigeria should adopt State Policing System or allow citizens to bear arms. Imagine the robbers knew that 90-100% of the people on the bus had guns and were trained to use it effectively?
