A few days ago as reported in many national daily newspapers, the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police,
Ibrahim Idris, once again ordered immediate removal of all roadblocks/checkpoints on our roads nationwide.

Whether it is violent crime, or corruption, or good governance, things will change for good in Nigeria
ONLY when together we all do something to make the change that we want to see happen.

If you travel or drive on Nigerian roads, you've seen what happens at those roadblocks/checkpoints set
up by all sorts of government agencies in uniform. You know they have insignificantly little to do with your
safety on the road. It's all about extortion, blackmail, intimidation, corruption, exploitation,...you
name it.

Having been victims of those roadblocks/checkpoints in the past, some friends finally decided to do something
about it for public good: they hacked up a way fight back with a mobile app for the public. Now they have made
it easy for you to get involved and fight back against extortion checkpoints on our roads.

NOW DO YOUR PART

If you have Android phone, go to Google Play store, download and install StopPoint mobile app. It is
absolutely free. Then next time you see a roadblock/checkpoint on a road anywhere you are in Nigeria, take
out your phone, launch StopPoint and report the roadblock/checkpoint immediately with a simple button click.

If you want to go any place and you want to see where the roadblocks/checkpoints are, pull out your phone, launch
StopPoint to see on google map all reported roadblocks/checkpoints in the area of your interest or travel.

If you are a senior official of a uniformed government agency and you want to see where your "boys" are
setting up roadblocks/checkpoints that the people are complaining so much about, do the same: take out your
Android phone, launch StopPoint and view them as reported on google map. You can even take a drive there to
see what they are doing in the name of your government agency.

TELL EVERYONE

This app is given freely to the public for use in the on-going anti-corruption campaign. It is going to be
effective only when lots of people use it constantly to report and see checkpoints throughout the country.
They've done our part by building the app, now is your turn to do your part by actively using it in numbers
every day. And tell friends too about StopPoint.

It may just be that when those people that set up checkpoints to extort money on roads realize that now the
public is watching and reporting easily on them, they will have a re-think. And no "Oga at the top" will any
longer claim they have no way to know.

SUGGEST IMPROVEMENT

There is always room to improve things. We welcome your comments, feedback, and suggestions for improvement.

" fight wisely, fight to live another day, don't fight with a man with a gun, dead men don't tell tales"

But fight!
